Considering a used 960 as it would probably run most games @60fps in 1080p at high settings, can get them for less than £100

Yes, but in 12 months the ray tracing (R in the RTX) will be a game changer. I reckon 24 months or so will see RTX as a dependency for 'high' or higher graphics modes and gen 1 RTX will need SLI to manage anything like gen 2 RTX as it isn't anywhere close to optimised. Those changes are just current RTX vs GTX too, and that means the tensor cores in the RTX cards are almost disabled. Starting to turn my attention towards the Rx 570. You can pick one up used with a 2 year warranty for £135 from cex and in some cases it outperforms a 1060 3GB. That said I saw the 8GB version of this card on sale for £160 on scan today, a fantastic deal for anyone who wants a card new.

The Rx 570 is around 122w TDP
Both cards perform fairly similarly but the RX 570 is newer and more power efficient
