I'm surprised you didn't mention the co-op was founded in 'dogdale' tenbob gun.
Toad lane if memory serves me rightly and a cracking pub called the Baum on site if you do get the chance.Does any one remember the Rochdale Co-op food store where the bingo hall now is.They used to give everyone a divi and you got Green Shield Stamps. It was my job as a kid to lick them and stick them into the book as I enjoyed the taste of the glue. From the brink of collapse a few years back the co-op picked itself up being ruthless in restructuring refocusing and cracking on to reshape the business model to cope within it's challenging new environment and do you know what this year it now enjoys around 6 % of market share just behind Aldis so bravo Mr Co-op and one hell of a journey it's been.
The exchange rate ended up a little like Turkish lira and got completely out of control. It took longer for the stamps to come out of the machine than to actually do your shop.
