Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

Talk of City starting negotiations with both Sane and Silva.

Not sure if it has any impact on Sterling’s negotiations, but possibly wanting these 2 to commit before increasing the offer to Sterling.

I think it’s a smart move by the club if they get Sané and Silva contracts done soon as that will really put the pressure on Raheem to do likewise and if he doesn’t want the world to think the worse about him, and see what kind of future City can give him, he will put Pen to paper on a contract with City that, lets face it, isn’t exactly shabby.

I am a natural pessimist, old City as it were, but I remain confident that this will get sorted. I am sure I will have missed some but apart from Sancho (which was a completely different scenario around career path) I am struggling to remember the last person to leave us on contract non-renewal grounds??

Jimmy the central midfielder who played left back for the victims

neither can lace his boots.
Thing is, the Raheem Sterling that plays for England or played for pre-Pep City was also not in the same class as the one who plays for City.

I agree neither is as good, but if we decides not to sign, we might as well get a massive fee and get a player who closest matches his attributes.
And both those players fit the bill. And if you consider the pick up in performance with Pep's coaching, the gap may not be as much as you might think.

To be fair, it looks as if BRAHIM DIAZ will leave. Although I still hope not.

He’s got to stay really. He’s been excellent for us and can only get better. He’s one of the most improved players under Pep imo.

Short article here with a few stats in, but it also mentions the off the ball work he does.

I can’t see him leaving, but his agent seems like a tosser

Think he has improved so much that his importance to the team is just as much now as De Byune or David Silva. He should be paid in line with those. He is making key contributions in every single game which is what the other two do. And he has scope to improve most due to his age.

He's definitely the most improved and he's easily becoming one of the most important players. The stats back his influence up, but giving him a new contract on the same terms as KdB would set a dangerous precedent - don't forget we're negotiating with Sane at the moment and Jesus has signed a new deal recently, and as good as those players are, as soon as you give Sterling a bumper deal, it'll upset the balance with them.

I think in terms of influence on the team and the games this season, anyone would rate them as following:

1) Sterling = Kevin = David (admittedly kevin has been injured so could even be lower)
2) Sane
3) Jesus

Jesus cannot complain about sterling contract as the difference between the influence is currently like day and light. I like Jesus but he is not making key contributions. And as good as Sane is, he is a year behind sterling in development and consistency.

Sane has hardly been given play time or jesus, unfair to compare them to sterling.

Sterling laid the ball on last night Vs spurs but his passing and keeping the ball was 5 out of ten. He must be the easiest player in the team to tackle at times.
