You either sign or you don't, and judging by your apathetic response you won't.
Fireworks are getting louder each year and bonfire night is nowadays a 2 week period covering both Halloween and Bonfire night. I'm not a killjoy at all, but when people cannot let off fireworks at a reasonable hour then something has to be done about it IMO.
It's not fair on the elderly, young children, and pets scared shitless by something that sounds like a warzone. Plus many accidents can be prevented from those irresponsible in lighting fireworks, especially when larking about endangering themselves and others.
I think selling them a day or two before the 5th of November is the best thing the government can do about this, let's see what happens.
I've signed the petition FI btw.
You can't keep banning everything because some people are irresponsible and need a brain transplant, where does it stop. Ban alcohol because it causes fights every single weekend stretching the emergency services, ban cars because some people drive like morons, hell lets ban football because there are some knob heads who go watch it week in week out. I personally love fireworks, I have a big party every year, family & friends look forward to it. Why should I not have my once a year gathering because some scroat is, well a scroat? The government have consistently said, for the last 5 years the petition has been started, they have no plans to change the law.
