Ndombele (signed for Spurs)

Or perhaps nationality.

Could be. It just seems like ever since Kante emerged anytime we hear about a promising, black DM they're always compared to Kante. It was the same for Yaya and young black B2B midfielders about five years ago.

As you say, 'could be', so perhaps better to give the benefit of the doubt. :-)

I think we're at a stage now that any player who arrives does so in his own right and that we no longer do 'direct replacements'. It's one reason why we evolve and improve each season.

Very much agree. I'd love for our next midfield signing to get a year or more of playing with Fernandinho and learning from him. Would be vastly beneficial to their integration in the team.

I'd grant you that argument of seeing a better tactical perspective. Like sky cam woukw allow you to see.

But you'd realize quickly that most players who are not directly involved in the play often are simply just ambling around within their positional area.

Not to mention, of all the players on the field, DMs and CMs get the most camera time coz they are almost always in shot, except for the few times the camera zeros in on corner areas. But even then you can easily conclude what players have done while out off shot quite often from where they pop up again.

I'd implore those who love to use the 'you don't see the little runs' argument to watch a game on TV and try to focus on the guy farthest away from ball, they can see in the shot.

They'd quickky notice how said player is almost always just ambling around gingerly in there positional area.

They are often not doing anything unique. Certainly not unique enough, for anyone with any knowledge to claim that's the basis for why they could but you couldn't see the greatness.

Almost inherent in thatt claim isi the preposterous argument that they are doing what most can intuitively tell they are not: i.e watching a guy who's not involved with the play. But yet this gets trotted out every season as evidence of knowledge.

This is a magnitude of bollocks the likes of Drubas and Tom_mcfc couldn’t even dream of.

Have a rest from the Spice for a few days mate.

Strange how nobody has liked this post, could it be anything to do with it being utter bollocks?

Nbombele impressed me so much against us, I couldn't believe he was only 21. Frankie I've not watched live, but watched a lot of the every touch vids (Which I like as you see mistakes too), he also looks so impressive, but his physicality worries me, and he plays in a very poor league. I think I prefer Ndombele right now, but I reckon Frenkie could well be the better player long term. Frenkie will cost 50-60% more though. Very tough call for whoever has to decide.

Honest question - do you think the French league is better than the Dutch one? Maybe PSG are stand outs but they are both packed with Championship level clubs. Sorry f that last comment sounds a bit disrespectful

Ligue 1 is stronger than the Eredivisie and, quite frankly, the Premier League is packed with Championship level clubs. ;-)

Thought he was great tonight. Hard to get off the ball. Quality dribbling. Quick and always looking for the forward pass. Only 21 as well, his physicality is perfect for the PL.

I’d take him over De Jong.
