This team needs to win a European trophy to be recognised as a great side in comparison to those others who have won the Champions League.Although for most of us the PL is the yardstick by which we measure how good the team is, players and clubs use the CL as the ultimate test and accolades of greatness are reserved for those that win it.
Like it or not. i don't necessarily agree as its a Cup competition and you need a little luck sometimes or a kind draw or the big guns to unexpectedly get knocked out to help get you through. This team is more than capable and id love to see us do it.

I agree with Kinkys Left Foot. This team that Pep has built will not be considered a truly great team unless it wins the Champions League. So therefore I will trust Pep to field a team that will win the game. That will mean that we will finish top of the group, which may or may not be a blessing, depending on who finishes 2nd in their group.

Exactly. But I suspect all those moaning about not liking the CL will no doubt still watch the game :)
I am sure you will enjoy" celebrity get me" While we watch the boring football.

Haha calm those eager jump the gun replys down lads, i didn't say I don't like the Champions League or that I won't be watching. My point was clear as day that it's just not as exciting as the Premier League.

Looking forward to this game. Best team we've played this season, who pressed us early, rattled us, and got their reward on the night. Cannot see us starting Fernandinho alone in midfield this time, which may be why Otamendi was given the game against West Ham so that Stones could be rested and played in midfield in Lyon.

A win would be nice but avoiding defeat should be the priority, and I expect a pragmatic performance much like Liverpool away.

I thought we weren't really up and running in the first game. Ndombele and Fekir were excellent in midfield for them.
I think we'll see a different City this time around.

It was certainly an odd occasion all round. We'll certainly have Guardiola prowling the touchline but last time he had Gundogan/Fernandinho/Silva all in midfield and we were clinically picked off. They also identified Delph as the weak link and funneled play in that direction. Since beating us Lyon have only lost once, in Paris, and are in good form. What disappointed me on the night is that we just never put their defence under sustained pressure. That was a defense consisting of Denayer and Rafael as well.

Might be wrong, but I don't think that defence has started a game together and that midfield would be overrun by Lyon. Make for an exciting game, however.

Champions (Boring) League feels like the international break for me. All about the Premier League.

Is what you said. And I responded to it.

If you meant something else, write that. I can only respond to the words you write

"Boring" It is not boring to me.
"Feels like an international break". Not to me I am excited about tomorrow, really jealous of the fans that are going.
'All about the premier league" , not for me or the club, or many fans,

I do respect your opinion that it is "boring"

Gianluca Rocchi of Italy has been appointed referee for Lyon vs. Manchester City on Tuesday. His previous City matches: - Monaco 3-1 City (2017) - Barcelona 1-0 City (2015) - City 1-1 Real Madrid (2012)

Don't remember any bad decisions against us in those games, think he might have even given us a penalty in the Madrid game.

Ederson
Walker Stones Laporte Delph
Fernandinho
Mahrez Silva
Sterling Aguero Sane

So when is the team suppose to travel?

This afternoon.
CL teams have to do a training session 1 day pre match, open for media for at least 15 minutes.
The presser with coach +1 player (Laporte again?) has to start 1 day pre match between 12 and 8 pm local time.

Lyon homepage say city's presser starts 5.45 pm.

Flight is what, 3.5 hours? They should be off already, no?

Ederson
Walker Stones Laporte Delph
Fernandinho
Mahrez Silva
Sterling Aguero Sane
Good lineup.

I prefer Bernardo for Mahrez at AM though. Mahrez on the right and Sterling left as well, though Sane did turn in a MoTM performance.

Would love to see Zinchenko start over Delph

Just learned that Bernado, Gundo and Jesus aren't travelling (or didn't travel) with the rest of the team.
