Theresa May

Based on the following assumptions:

  1. There are 48 letters + that will not be voting for her.

  2. Then there’s the allegedly 100+ who were going to vote against her basket case Brexit deal, so you would say that most of them will vote in the no confidence.

  3. The party does advice that anything over 100 and you should walk.
It’s looking pretty clear to me that May is going one way or another. Even if she attempted to hang on which she did when she pulled the vote on the 11th hour on Monday she is toast, because the DUP pulling their votes + those who have voted no confidence leaves her screwed.

I really don’t see a way out for May because the arithmetic even if she wins a No Confidence vote she can’t pass water for the rest of her tenure.

158 MPs have to vote against her, if it's only 157 she'll stay.

She's on a mission from God.

Interestingly, should May defeat her backstabbers, they would not be permitted to challenge her for another year.

The plotters must think they have the numbers.

Great, more game playing. They are having a great time in Parliament and there will be plenty of baying from the benches today. It's all a game to them.

Meanwhile kids are living in squalid conditions and thousands of people are homeless in one of the richest nations on the planet.

Let's just restore the monarchy and have done with them all. Never thought I'd say that even in half jest.

Interesting take from the Independent

The prime minister requires 158 supporters to survive – after which there cannot be another contest for one year – although rejection by more than 100 Tory MPs could damage her fatally.

I understand what's said but disagree. If she gets the 158 nothing will shift her. All the evidence to date shows she has Mourinho-like stickability and 100 against her would be seen as a "disaster" of the type she has survived before and she would see no earthly reason not to drive on stubbornly.

I know - we are going in a tail spin, flames are licking around the fuselage as we begin to crash and burn - meanwhile politicians argue over whether the plane should be repainted and if so in what colour................

I suspect it's more seeing it as the last chance to take control of the Brexit process. Any further delay, and it would be too late to affect anything.

I think this is based on the Thatcher removal, where she won, but was weakened so badly that she was told to go.
If 150 vote against, she starts struggling to fill posts.

I think Mayday out-stubborns Thatcher though..........amazingly.

When the Tories boast about being the only party to return two female PM's they should be reminded that both were butchered by their own sides when they had served a purpose.

If it's those kind of numbers her critics won't shut up. You'll get the unedifying sight of Tory politicians without an ounce of decency themselves braying for her to do the decent thing.

There would, but it would free them a little to actually talk about it openly. And to not select McVey or Priti Patel.

The two aren't really the same though.
May has tried taking on a policy bequeathed to her, a policy unpopular with a large % of the country.
Thatcher was running out of steam and top supporters after a long run, before being savaged by a dead sheep. It was time to go really.

That's a very specific definition of 'laugh' I feel. Ever since her death sentence appearance on Question Time, she's been an inspiration to me of what someone in authority should not be.
It would be a laugh for us, seeing her try to threaten 27 countries with shortages of things they produce in abundance. Possible biggest low in Anglo-Irish relations since that Churchill fucker was around though.

Churchill or Cromwell?

You've convinced me. McVey it is then.
