Crystal Palace (H) Post Match Thread

For me, it’s unfathomable that Sergio and Kev weren’t played from the start. Get the game won, then take them off. Pep’s misjudgement.
Walker is a very tired man. God knows I’m not here to defend him, but he had to make that challenge that led to the penalty. It was a stretch for him, and it was the challenge of a tired man. More importantly, so was the non-challenge for the first goal. I noticed that more.
Four points behind, and we’re making it difficult for ourselves. For people to start saying it’s over, or it’s their year, or whatever, is not even a poor joke. It simply isn’t worth engaging with. Does anyone happen to remember how many points we were behind United with one month to go?!
Some people need to get a grip. The road is long and winding.

Fair play to Palace, they worked their socks off when out of possession and when they countered. We, alas, looked a tad slow and devoid of ideas in certain areas.

Love a bit of positivity , i think you will be pleasantly surprised on january 3rd , dont believe all the media hype about invincible Liverpool , suggest you watch some of their recent performances instead of being brainwashed by pundits.
Problem is fella I’m watching our recent performances. I don’t read into the hype and I don’t think they are invincible but I do believe to win the league you need luck and they have that you n abundance. I have said all season and last season that we miss way to many chances and it is beginning to tell . A lot of people think Jesus is good for us but I think he is nowhere good enough to lead our line and considering we are the richest club in the world to only have one striker is piss poor . It’s ok pep saying no January signings but we need someone to bring the morale back in . Walker needs dropping ASAP. Ederson is not filling us with confidence at the moment but I believe he is a class keeper. As for ferdy why didn’t we get kovacic on loan like Chelsea did

Is it a massive phone ?

19 shots just 3 on target.
A bit of deja vu regarding the oppo having 3 shots yet all on target.
How come its always the opponents who are always so lethal when we control possession?

Its been coming. Been getting away with it for a while . If pep thinks team selections like todays will endear him to many he better think again. Not good enough in any way shape or form. No use him raving about foden and never giving him a chance. As for our fullback situation its a fkn joke. Good job the dippers aren't much good .well at least thats what we keep hearing.
I mean Pep endeared himself to me when we won the league with 100 points but apart from that, yeah he's shit

If Pep wasn’t complacent then the players were.

No point trying to polish a turd which today was.

The defence is a mess. Walker should be dropped immediately. How he stayed on the pitch after that first half is beyond me and then he gives a pen.

Why did Pep wait so long to bring KDB on? He should have been on at HT.

Palace deserved to win. Great hit for the 2nd but what was that header? Was it Gundogan who laid it on a plate for him?

The first was weak defending all across the line and Walker deciding not to bother making a challenge. Zaha shouldn’t be scoring from that position. As for the pen! WTF is Walker doing there. No threat at all. Just stand him up!

I can’t think of anyone who played well other than De Bruyne who was excellent when he came on.

3 points tossed away

All you doom merchants and "the league is over for us" pessimists don't half make me laugh...

Just think... the more hyper and fanatical the Scouse Scum get, the sweeter it will be for us later in the season, when we win the title from them... again.

Walker had a role in all their goals.
He’s a fine athlete but lacks football intelligence.
That penalty he gave away was right in front of me and looked nailed on to happen the moment he decided to dive in.
He is the weak link in our defence.

A defeat which could happen at any time granted but made worse by the fact we took the lead. Our defensive frailties are becoming a worry - we simply can't expect to score 3 goals every game. Delph is clearly no left back. Walker needs a rest or dropping if Danilo is fit. Is that no clean sheet for 8 games in a row now ? Too many players not on song today and the quality from wide just wasn't there. Stones has qualities no doubt but as a DM he can't replace Fernandinho adequately. There are clear worrying signs over squad depth for Pep to be concerned about. Bernardo, whilst always easy on the eye, hasn't stepped up to cover Merlin's absence to be the difference maker we need. Gundog took his goal very well but his overall contributions are merely modest.
As for Palace, they were the best organised team we've played at home this season. They scored an absolute screamer from Townsend and a very good first goal (could Walker have done better to block the shot?) and they worked their balls off all game. We threw as much as we could at them but it wasn't like their keeper had to make save after save which tells you how well set up they were defensively.
Need to bounce back with 3 points v Leicester.

Thought I was being quite gentle with him, he has been below par for an extended period.

It’s unfortunate that Danilo has been constantly unavailable.

Today, Kyle put little to no pressure on Schlupp, he tried a back heel tackle before giving away the free kick which led to their worldy of a second, and then he lunged into a challenge a Sunday league player would have been proud of.

Not a good day at the office. Hopefully he will get rested and come back stronger in the New Year.

That should read ‘regularly’. Even when he has been available, Guardiola has seen fit to use Walker and leave Danilo on the bench or omit him from the squad.

Other than obviously the rags last season, not sure when the last time we conceded 3 at home in the PL?
