At some point we have to start to change that record.

We have done it against the other clubs in the PL , and no reason why we can't start tomorrow.
Most recently I recall a 5-0 win last time we played them at home on our patch in the league.

These records are mainly in the mind and you can lose games in the head if confidence drops and you think the task is too much and that applies to any side even Liverpool.

Lost four games this season to date same number as us anything can happen on the night.

I share your confidence and nodded along with your whole post. They’ve had no key injuries or unlucky results yet, either.

Definitely Stones ahead of Konpany for me in this one, though. The way Liverpool play channel balls behind you, I want stones clearing that up, not Vinny, who’s better in duels/battles these days.

You say that but every so often Vinny reminds us of the player he once was. In the league cup final he beat Aubameyang to the ball, and in a game of this size the whole team could be carried by his passion on the pitch, a crunching tackle on Salah early doors to get the crowd going even more for example.

Whilst Stones and Laporte are far more consistent, only De Bruyne and Fernandinho have that crowd pleasing passion to their games consistently. I feel this game is an occasion, like a derby, where form goes out of the window and you play your leaders who ou know can have a blinding 90minutes plus that inspires those around them.

That is my heart ruling my head of course.

A last minute offside handball winner would be satisfying, preferably from sterling but I won't be greedy and ask for too much.

Ilkay Gundogan on City vs. Liverpool: "It's the most attractive game of the Premier League, so we want to perform well. Our manager's philosophy is to bring our own game on the pitch, the result will then come automatically."

"Against Liverpool it's an extremely exciting game and a very big challenge against their three men up front. If we can do that better [contain Salah, Firmino and Mane] then we'll win the game. Up front we always have the quality to score goals." [SID]

That's why I suspect we will set up similar to the game at Anfield, with more legislation for being countered.

We created three or four decent opportunities that day, mainly sliding Mahrez in across the 18-yard box.

Liverpool, on the other hand, had probably two half sighters, both Salah?

One when he cut inside Laporte, before curling a comfortable shot into Eddie hands.

The other was one I would have expected him to have scored last season, when Eddie got caught in no-man's land and Salah missed the opening to loft it over him first time.

Mendy was really disciplined that day, so concerned about the lack of height on that far post and Zinchenko ball watching.

I do have much room for optimism, though. Arnold was given a chasing on his side against Arsenal and looked to be feeling the pace of missing a few games.

Just keep Robertson from going over the halfway line, he is crucial to how Liverpool play in so many ways, which is why Napoli in the first leg did a number on him.

We know we have to stay disciplined create enough chances and keep them quiet for long enough to land the points.

Chelsea have done it , CSKA have done it , PSG have done it and Napoli have done it and we edged a game we were a little unlikely to draw with them earlier this year.

No side is invincible certainly not Liverpool but they have a decent manager who has a record of winning titles with sides that are capable of doing so.

Again if we want it bad enough and play to our strengths we stand a good chance , a lot depends on the mindset and what is going on upstairs on the day as we have the talent to match them.

I suspect it will be their year no matter the outcome of this game but we can given them a decent scare as can other sides like Spurs and Chelsea if truth be told.

City to win 3 - 1!

Liverpool to then wobble and finish 6 points behind City.

Another year of Liverpool waiting to win their first Premier League Title!

Liverpool is already knocked out of the League Cup, can't win Champions League so will probably be yet another Liverpoor season with no trophys.

At least this should be the year of Klopp's highest finish in the Premier League.

i wouldn't write them off in the Chumps League just yet and they will have to drop a lot of points in the last 18 games to finish behind Spurs , Chelsea or us but in competitive sport anything can happen including titles for sides that were rated 5000-1 or more to win the league at the start of the season.

If they are already out of LC and cannot win CL, then they have a much stronger chance of league
Why cannot they win the CL

Usual poor performance against them?

At home in the Prem, our recent record against them is:
P9 W5 D2 L2 F17 A10 GD+7 Pts17/27

I’m talking about since kloop has been there .. they’ve won twice at our places and pulled our pants down at anfield a lot ... think the odds are value

I hadn't forgotten the 5-0, and I seem to remember a 3-0 home win too in 2012 iirc. , but I was talking about winning on a more regular basis.

I am sure that Pep will have been instilling confidence and belief in the players, and we shouldn't have any inferiority complex about facing them .

Ilkay Gundogan is set to return for Manchester City after missing the win at Southampton, and Kevin De Bruyne is back in training after a muscle injury.

Fabian Delph remains suspended, while Benjamin Mendy is a long-term absentee.

Liverpool midfielder James Milner is available following a two-match absence with a muscular problem.

Left-back Alberto Moreno has recovered from a back complaint, while Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita are among those in contention for a recall.

Lets just go out there...produce our A-game and most of all, when the opportunity arises to take the shot on and bag the goals

Lets get the job done and get within 4pts with a hell of a long way to go, and games left to play where they could most likely drop points

I’d love to see Sterling actually perform against them. It would lift a weight of his shoulders and keep Robertson occupied. At Anfield last season he retreated into his shell and Robertson got very confident and surged forward.

Yeah, remembering the faces of the crowd in the front couple of rows that day, it doesn’t surprise me that both players performed as they did. Won’t be the case tomorrow and I’m expecting Raheem to shine

Watching Pep’s pre match made me smile.

He emphasised “OK people say we have no chance against this incredible team....”

You just know that he is saying to our players “who the hell do this lot think they are coming to the home of the Champions and are people’s favourites to win? Don’t just beat them kill their confidence. Don’t give them anything for the whole match. Focus and be relentless”

I hope Kompany does play in this one. It’s an occasion.

This game will start like a rocket.

We might not win the league but I get the feeling that Liverpool will do well to get a draw tomorrow.

Pep up for this one. Players up for it. KDB back. Fans can’t wait to greet this so called incredible team.

Time for the Centurions to return.

Enough is enough.
