and yet there are those that still want a winter break ! January totally clogged up and Feb no better

The article states Newcastle v City is scheduled for tv and CANT be moved ??? Yet they were able to move the Spurs match easily enough !!
Why should the Newcastle game have anything to do with it?

Why should the Newcastle game have anything to do with it, that is on the 29th?

if either club were asked to play on 24 January, their potential involvement in the FA Cup fourth round on 26 or 27 January would have to be considered.

On 29 January, Newcastle play City in a televised league game which cannot be rescheduled.

I think it's simply that each semifinal has a team playing on the Sunday in 3 weeks, which makes the Tuesday afterwards problematic. Therefore it's likely that one semifinal will go to Wednesday and one to Thursday.

Either date rules out FA Cup on the Friday afterwards, and one rules out the Saturday too. Chelsea and City are playing on the Tuesday afterwards (as it stands), meaning that they would have to play in the FA Cup on the Saturday.

The Newcastle match is on BT, who also have the rights to half the FA Cup. They won't want to mess that around, and they also have a match on the Wednesday.

That or Sky have to play ball and co-operate to help BT by moving the matches beforehand. The cynics can add in "and City" if they like!

So are you saying it looks like 2 games in 3 days at some point regardless, assuming we beat Rotherham?

Could be a TV game though there's a few more obvious ones. Saturday would make most sense given our midweek games, but when did that ever get taken into account?

We're Wednesday 23rd, Chelsea v Spurs is the Thursday. Confirmed.

They're gonna test VAR at Burton in a league game before we play there and if it works it will be in effect for that leg. Not sure what happens if the test doesn't go well, but its never been used in a third tier game before.

Is the barcodes game on the Amazon TV rights contract?

Self edit: it's on BT.

So 2 of our matches this season dictated by TV demanding we play on those days through no fault of our own.

Have any other clubs been forced to do the same?

I'm guessing nope.

Not sure what the problem is with playing on the Wednesday. Seems as good as it could be, as we're playing on the Sunday beforehand, and have to play on the Saturday in the FA Cup to fit with the Tuesday match after that.

Standard TV scheduling problems.
