The leeway they get is incredible, though, isn’t it? I’ll be honest, I wanted them to win, because I don’t see them as any kind of threat (goes and washes his mouth out) by comparison with Spurs. But the world and his wife could see that they were simply overrun in that second half. It was De Gea vs Tottenham Hotspur FC. Any talk of ‘flying colours’ is just risible.

Tottenham who’s team cost less than United and a team they also beat in an fa cup semi final playing under a manager they didn’t like.

Did they win last night?

BBC News 24 Sports report is literally trawling rags social media thread to pronounce the second coming.

After lauding Becker as the best goalkeeper in the world since the first match in August sky sports news have dropped him like a dirty habit and installed the donut thief as number one. Fickle ****s.

'masterclass' the Beeb have it down as, I saw two good saves with his feet, the rest were straight at him, if they're honest the focus should be on Spurs woeful finishing and also worrying for Utd that they conceded 11 shots on target in 45 minutes.

I think you can make a reasonable argument that his positioning is very good, which is why so many shots seem to be straight at him. But of course, this isn't the argument they're making...

Does the MEN have an online homepage like this when city win a match?

Couldn’t fit the whole picture of De Gea celebrating.

The MUEN really has gone back to being a Rag loving Rag.

Let’s wait and see how the MUEN reports tomorrow’s match if City win.

I really have to take issue with " gone back " .

Yep, that's a fair point, as opposed to Lloris who's positioning was poor but still Spurs finishing was awful, whatever about the one on ones, the two strikes from Alli and Llorente at the end were pathetic, Kane's freekick was almost in the centre of the goal, the type of shots that if they're not easily dealt with the keeper is getting stick, yet DeGea gets this ott praise.

I'm not against De Gea like many on here but I am not buying the good positioning crap with yesterday. Spurs attempts at goal were mostly really poor finishes. If you shoot right at the keeper or very close to them then any decent keeper will save them. Kane early in the second half for example, he is in the same position Lloris was on Rashfords goal. One player fires it into the corner the other straight at the keeper. Standing in the middle of your net is nothing amazing is it, it is the absolute basics of being a keeper.

I don't think I'd take yesterday in isolation, but I would argue his positioning generally is extremely good.

It will be because he is a great goalkeeper. I would expect nothing less from the player who is consistently voted keeper of the year. It is from yesterday because we have a whirlwind of hysteria if he has a good game, yesterday being the first time for a while to be fair. I will put it this way, if any of them attempts had resulted in a goal then everyone would have questioned him.

De Gea's agent should be rubbing his hands with the media coverage - his job is being done for him, and surely a Sanchez size deal can be expected.

Woodward will have no options left but to pay up.

Yes, I'd agree with that completely.
