Dianne Abbott

again contextually meaningless because of how the second quote is used when it doesn't relate to this thread. The point I was making is clear - someone had come on and started posting in a manner that was trying to whip up anti-Abbott vitriol but in such a manner that somebody else would be doing it for him/her.

No.

You want to shut down any debate you dont like.

Tough is the answer, not going to happen.

As far as I remember, the Chris Grayling thread was started in response to the rail strike situation. I think we also had a Diane Abbott one during the infamous police cost debacle. Is she back in the news or something?

You started the Grayling one, specifically to have a go at him. Fair enough too, but now you're whining that someone starts a thread about a Labour politician. That's beyond pathetic. Defend her if you want, that's what threads or for, not attempts to shut down people talking about someone.

Didn't deny that - however plenty on here from all sides of the political divide have contributed to the Garyling one - none of them complimentary.

I am not trying to shut down any debate - say what you like just be aware that in some quarters it doesn't go unnoticed how the right are triggered by events to go on the personal attack to divert from themselves and their deeds or failings. Its S.O.P. now in politics - particularly on the right - think of the disgusting assault on the memory of Ed Millibands late Father and the " Enemies of the People" headlines in the r/w press. All examples of "don't look at this mess quick look over there........a dinosaur"

see my response to Henkeman - I am not trying anything of the sort - I have no power to do so - just amused at what is as I say a Pavlovian response to events.

And you are contributing to this one. Which is the point. Yes you absolutely are trying to shut down debate - you opened your Grayling thread by saying the not immediately obviously neutral "what a cock this man is". Physician, heal thyself.

You are projecting. Having the slightest degree of self-awareness given you actually started a hatchet job thread on a Tory politician might be useful.

She does seem to get a disproportionate amount of criticism. It can't purely be because she is incompetent, as that is something that could levelled at literally hundreds of MPs. There must be a reason why she gets more vitriol than most others.

you mean like the Boris Johnson thread started by that marxist Hilts? When it comes to Tory posts they tend to be created by all sides on BM and contributed on from all sides too. The likes of the Grayling one gets him rightful kicking because he is fucking useless. ( latest being the make believe ferry company ). However the labour ones about Corbyn, Abbott etc are set up normally by someone from the right - normally at a point when the Tories are about to take a shoeing and are set up with the sole intention to bad mouth and attack the target.
I can promise you that I’ll be giving this government a verbal kicking this week as I have done most weeks. The fact that I’ve been saying I’d like either Caroline Flint or Dan Jarvis to be prime minister doesn’t (I don’t think) make me a right winger.

She's more basically incompetent in interviews than most - too many car crash appearances. It's odd actually, she's anything but stupid, she's highly intelligent. But she seems to go to pieces sometimes. I am concerned about her wellbeing, I'm not sure she's entirely healthy.

Why Labour HQ think its a good idea to keep pushing her in front of the cameras i will never know as she is a PR disaster waiting to happen every time.

Gardiner seems to have taken that job over these days anyway so maybe they have learnt and have taken her out of the firing line?

She is, but she never used to be, her appearances on (for example) This Week were always perfectly competent - whether someone agrees with her or not is beside the point. That's why I wonder about her health.

If that is the case her party has a duty of care to help and protect her from certain situations they and her know she is likely to suffer then although im afraid as a front line shadow minister hoping to be a government minister there is nowhere to hide in reality.

She is to Labour what Boris is to the Tory party.

To quote a senior Labour MP you can't defend the indefensible, now who said that?

Her fuck up Tweet, racially stereotyping white people has stuck in people’s heads.

That and the fact she’s a Corbyn ally, who is marmite anyway and has fucked up several interviews.

I’m not saying I agree with all the criticisms but I understand why they happen.

Its a painfully Pavlovian response on here - the minute the Tories look like they are hitting a bad ( or worse ) patch a diversionary attack Labour thread is started or bumped back up list. After Tuesdays vote I suspect threads will be started on every Labour MP by those desperate to cleanse themselves from harbouring thoughts that a Labour govt could be on the horizon.
You really believe that this forum is not dominated by left leaning / Labour voting posters ?

The usual thing to do is hide the incompetents incapable of dissembling on the backbenches, however both parties seem to be following a new tactic of pushing Abbott and Grayling front and centre, possibly to distract from their own incompetence.

FWIW I think Abbott is actually quite intelligent, she's just a disaster at communicating her ideas and too happy to jump in feet first without doing her research.

She got into Cambridge. You don't do that if you're a thickie.
