It's essential, but even with it large packs of creatures like wolves or neckers, that would be nothing more than a trivial annoyance on normal, can be deadly very easily. Anything one on one is easy tbh as long as you know how to dodge and Quen.

Machiavelli- I also took a while to get up the mental fortitude to start such a dauntingly huge game (I reckon it was 18 months after buying it I actually played it for more than 15 minutes), it was a bit overwhelming at first and I just found reasons to delay. My wife ended up completing it and I eventually decided to give it a proper go and it's honestly the best game I've played this gen and you honestly could spend an entire year playing nothing but the one game tbh, it's that big. The plot is great, the characters are great, there is so much to do, the world is vast, beautiful and full of things to do, Gwent is horrendously addictive and the combat is spot on. It's pretty much perfect tbh, barring the slightly long loading times when you die

I got the limited edition Gwent cards with the DLCs

Well, CES was a little underwhelming for pc parts. Nvidia continue to price gouge, Intel won't have anything interesting out on the desktop and AMD on a GPU front haven't put anything interesting out.
That being said it looks like AMD are going to smoke Intel on the CPU front with the next Ryzen series, not too surprised by that though. Complaceny from Intel is eventually being punished

Unfortunately that's not as exciting as it sounds iirc, just new pictures on existing cards (which you won't even notice as you've not played without it). Doesn't matter though, Gwent is still ace.
 
EA have cancelled ANOTHER Star Wars game. This is getting ridiculous. In the 6 years since getting the licence they have made 2 mediocre games. No surprise the game was single player with no real scope for microtransactions. If I was Disney I would be looking at other developers to make Star Wars games

I just don't understand how people can support micro transactions in a paid game. Fair enough if it was free but once I've paid for a game I don't want to pay for stuff inside it.

Very much the same with me mate, this is the first football game I've played since PS3 and I like it. Unfortunately I play through the Nvidia shield and use their cloud steam service so can't update the option files with the correct team names. But the way city play is almost identical to real life imo
