Dianne Abbott

She does seem to get a disproportionate amount of criticism. It can't purely be because she is incompetent, as that is something that could levelled at literally hundreds of MPs. There must be a reason why she gets more vitriol than most others.
Well she was always on TV years ago with the one Tory that used to be gay at uni and lost his seat embarrassingly (can’t remember his name now).

Then she stayed on TV. Makes a tit of herself at every aavailable opportunity, has shagged the leader of the opposition and is the probably the second most high profile labour MP, mainly from her media work.

It’s nothing to do with being female, just as the vitriol aimed at May isn’t.

Look at the length of this thread compared with similar on Corbyn or Johnson et al for confirmation.

There’s a word of difference between Diane Abbot and Chris Grayling. Abbot got some numbers wrong in a debate - not great but no harm done. Grayling smashes the probation Service to pieces for political gain.He gave contracts to his mates in outsourcing companies like Working Links and Sedexo - the probation service has lost 30 per cent of its staff, has stopped meeting many offenders face to face, reoffending rates are through the roof, work programmes have disintegrated and the service is in a complete melt down. And don’t get me started on what Failing Grayling has done to the Railways. I’m not saying either Grayling or Abbot are great but one has done real damage and harm.. the others just no good at numbers.

Abbot shagged Corbyn - no worse than the Prime Minister shagging Edwina Curry - only Major had promised a moral reform and a return to basics.

It’s not a point to criticise her with, it’s a point to explain her elevated media relevance. Not sure why you inferred otherwise.

So, Grayling is a proven disaster, Abbott hasn't had an opportunity to prove herself yet?

;)

I hope she doesn’t but believe me I’ve done some work recently for the Probation Service and what a mess - it’s an absolute time bomb. The biggest fuck up I have ever seen. Even the present Minister Gauke can’t stand Grayling for what he’s done to the service.

It was with Michael Portillo and on that very programme, she claimed that Chairman Mao wasn’t such a bad fella.

Thanks. Remembered his name just after I posted but couldn’t be arsed editing. She was never too bad on that and I had time for her. I agree she doesn’t well by comparison now.

She also got in a horrendous pickle on there when she tried to justify her son being sent to a fee paying school by saying "West Indian mothers will go to the wall for their children" and refusing to answer when it was queried whether she meant that other mothers won't. Not a difficult question to get out of really, but she got it hideously wrong.

You may be right, but we don't know as she has never held office. Maybe we'll find out soon.

Curiously - I have for many years lived in John Redwood's constituency in Berkshire - so I am absolutely understanding your reference there.

So my vote down here is worth just about as much as it was when my constituency was Eccles

The woman is a racist before anything else.

Add to which she is absolutely hopeless, lacking in communication skills, and listening to her in the house of commons for more than 5mins could put a glass eye asleep.

If Labour voters on here can not see that her and Corbyn are almost all of the reason despite the absolute clusterfuck the current government have managed to make of things they are falling considerably short in opinion polls it beggars belief.

Thornberry, Long Bailey, Reyner have all a too passive aggressive comms delivery, but Abbott’s, along with the finger wagging and eye rolling won’t win her many votes outside of Hackney. His Majesty Sir Kier-Hardie Starmer has excellent comms, his problem is the bollocks that mostly falls from his mouth.

It’s a struggle to name a politician from any of the parties that stands up as a leader or evan a credible role model for society.
I think Abbott due to her often inferior position on newsnight stands out particularly as an idiot of the highest order. Thornberry and Soubry come from the same haughty know all camp.
