FA Cup 5th Round Draw 2019 - Newport (a)

Most on here have no idea what the pitches looked like in the 60-70-80-ies.
And I thought the one at Newport, being muddy and all, wasn’t that bobbly as the ball roled pretty well.

Most of the fans should enjoy a day out at another ground rather than the opponents we normally get in domestic cup competitions.

Watched the last 20mins of the game last night. The pitch looked awful, and very bare and muddy in patches. If the pitch is still like that when we play them it will be very much in their favour. What we need is a couple of days of dry weather to dry the pitch out, and swing it back in our favour.

Even if it was laid today it wouldn't be ready for the game. Best we can hope for is a few dry days leading up to the game, no rugby being played on it and a roller being used.
There are no scheduled rugby games to be played there between now and the date we play.

I've booked a direct train. I hope I don't have to use a bus.

I think you will the directs go via wilmslow and Crewe and Saturday n Sunday replacement bus between Manchester and Crewe.
Might be worth going to the train station to confirm and see if it's possible to swap
Given your situation your hope they'd be sympathetic and do it without charge

Wimbledon vs Millwall
Newport vs Manchester City
Bristol City vs Wolves
Doncaster vs Palace
Swansea vs Brentford
Chelsea vs Manchester United

Thats probably the weakest looking FA Cup 5th round i can remember. Great opportunity for us here to add more silverware, we really need to avoid any stupid slip ups like last season. Rest some key players but a relatively strong side needed.

We can afford to rest/not risk some key players. We have more than enough quality to win this, but if we go there with arrogance and get beat, we will never live it down.
They beat Leicester, and they’re on their ‘cow patch’, I know it’s the same for both teams, but Fcuking hell, we might as well play on a Salisbury Plain, all that’s missing is some tanks. It’s shocking.

My lad did the same thing.

He is now going to go down via Crewe and Bristol to avoid the bus, and attempt to do the same coming back - it will be difficult if there is extra time and penalties.

Two possible return trains, the early one being via Bristol and Crewe whilst the later one necessitates using the bus which he doesn't want to do.

Ahh 'proper pitches' I well remember Pat Jennings bouncing the ball hand to ground and return before he would drop kick it from the Platt Lane end only for it to just stick in the mud.
