Yes it must have been gut wrenching to have thought that the death was bad enough,but possibly not even finding the body,I do not know how the family have coped.That's something for the family anyway, at least they've got a bit of closure.

Both are highly unlikely, the reason combat planes have ejector seats is that it's not really possible to jump out of a plane that's rapidly losing altitude with the g forces involved.
