booking next years holidays with brexit coming

I know exactly what IATA is. Weirdly enough they're rather well known. And yes, if everyone sits on their hands doing nothing, then there could be an issue. Good job people haven't been isn't it?

No, there isn't just a bare bones agreement in place.
Cheers mate.
Good to get the facts from someone 'in the know'.
So why did the Director General of IATA make those comments?

Because it gets them in the press. Really. Had you ever heard of IATA before? Nope, you hadn't. Job done.

And why did Bernadette Kelly (Permanent Secretary for the Department of transport) say that a barebones agreement would be considered

Yes I read that which seems to back up the claim made by IATA.
Obviously the public is bound to be concerned when the Government warns of a risk to flights and then the Director General of an international aviation authority confirms it. BBC and Sky have also run news items warning of the risks. It also doesn't help when DD wades in to threaten no flight zones for EU planes in UK airspace.
Fortunately for us we have our own insider experts who really know what's going on behind the scenes to advise us and give us comfort and reassurance that everything will be ok.
We are indeed fortunate and should be grateful.

For anyone planning on driving in the EU post a no deal Brexit

On Jan 31st the govt abolished the paper application forms for international dribving licences.

You can now only get one by going in person to a main post office. In the NW the only post offices doing the applications are Stockport and Manchester Spring Bank.

The AA and RAC stopped doing online applications on February 1st.

Don’t forget you will also need to carry a green card off your insurance provider as well.

Are you sure? The post office website says and IDP is available at (some) local post offices for £5.50.

Which bit are you questioning?

I guarantee that you can only get them by going in person now.

This is cut from the post office page on the IDP.

“How do I apply?
Find your nearest Post Office branch using our branch finder tool. Bring along your full valid UK photo-card driving licence, a passport sized photo and your valid passport as proof of identification if presenting an older paper version licence.”

They do cost £5.50 though.
I live in Macc.
Went to my post office and was told the only NW post offices doing them were in Manchester, Stockport and Stoke!

Bugger - I am out to Cyprus on 1st April and I have a car out there

So I will need to organise something before leaving by the sounds of this. Surely this could have been sorted out.

Why haven't you done so already? You knew what we were voting for. It was all made clear in the run up to the referendum.
