League Cup Final Post - Match Thread

Thing is you get to celebrate several times (misses for them and goals for us), and if you win, the last is the best.
But still you are one weird fucker .
I can’t do pks . Not for me . I feel like puking and the pain for every miss is just too much to handle :)

Loads of praise lavished on us when we’re playing our breathtaking stuff but wow this team has stacks of character too.

To think we went into ET without Silva, KDB, Ferna and Laporte and still had the better chances and enough bottle to see it through.

Take 4 players of that quality from any other teams starting xi and they fall apart.

Not to mention they shoulda been down to 9 men by then. I can understand missing the Jorginho one but my mind boggles at how Rudiger can commit 2 yellow card offences in a single move (the 2nd on Silva could have been a red by itself) and somehow stay on the pitch. There's no way Rudiger should have been on the pitch by the end of the match.

That was a nervous watch but well worth it. Great result. Retained a trophy for the first time but surely not for the last time. Well done lads.

Deserved to win but did it the hard and ugly way and had to dig deep. The manner of the win again shows the grit, determination and sheer character of this team. Big shout out for Raheem: balls of steel that lad! Just hope injuries and tired legs won’t adversely affect our next two league performances. Keep those trophies coming, Blues!

After all the shit we've been through, when it gets that far, I'm no longer bothered, I think 1999 did it, I've never worried about the since, you win you win, you lose its unlucky, but like I said we don't lose them very often, just enjoy each moment, one or two might let you down, but ultimately if you win, the feeling is up there with the best goals you'll ever score.

I had an old guy behind me tonight, he asked me to sit down at one point (nothing was happening, as the ball wasn't in play), but I sat down, when it went to penalties, he tapped me on the shoulder, and said you can stand up now, I can't watch :)

What character this team has, Chelsea had 6 days off before the game, we had an away game in europe, and played nearly half an hour a man down, and came back from 2-1 to win, then today 4 of our best players subbed, and we still stuck at it to win a shoot out.
-)

Didnt chelsea play thursday

I just love this team. I don't care one iota about 'how many times' or 'istry', We know where we've come from, and where we've been, but now we have something very very special at this club of ours. Enjoy every moment!

That was a very hard game to watch.

We looked really tired. We did create more than them but I felt they controlled parts of the game just as well as we did.

I don’t remember Silva and de Bruyne linking up on the edge of their box once all cane while they were both on. We barely made any passes through the midfield, we were obsessed with going wide and we made it easier for them to defend us.

However despite us being well below our best, Chelsea only threatened to threaten us really.

The penalty shoot-out was a well deserved one for us after the patheticness of their ’keeper wasting time all game then refusing to go off for a proven Final shoot-our hero, and then to see him let one slip under him with Kun’s. The twat deserves that!

Great winning penalty by Raheem!

Another trophy, fantastic, but a hard slog today to win it!

Brilliant day from start to finish, so pleased for raheem, it took balls for him to step up to take that given the stick he has received.

If we are brutally honest, that was a piss poor performance and we only got a result because of an equally poor performance from the opposition who looked like they just didn't want to get thumped again. As a one off, we can take the result and move on, particularly in finals which are often cagey, but when it's followed on from a handful of similar performances albeit with us getting the result in the end it's becoming a bit of a concern. Too much sideways LVG-esque pointless passing and not moving the ball quick enough to create space and thus chances. A revert back to our classic formation with sterling on the right and Sane on the left is needed for us to get back into our groove I think. Thats enough negativity though, I'm sure Pep will sort it and regardless of the performance we've just retained the league cup and are now the second most successful side in the competitons history (what's that?)

Just got home and work is going to be fucking miserable in 6 hours. But I am very happy.

We’ve just won a fucking cup victor!

For Christ’s sake!
