League Cup Final Post - Match Thread

Haha, thing is he's seen us win a cup, I hope he enjoyed it, even though you got him home late. My lad was 9 when we beat Gillingham on penalties to get out of the third division, he's never looked back, he didn't go today, his mum had his ticket though, she's never seen us lose at wembley.
Knowing how City fans believe in superstition and lucky mascots, I would guess your daughter/daughter in law gets permenant Wembley tickets now.
And what were you doing not following her to go to the Wigan final?

That was nerve wracking.

In the first half Chelsea were less Sarri ball and more late phase Mourinho bus.

In the second half and in extra time they really pushed their back 4 up so that play was really contained in a small space.

I was sat higher up and for the life of me couldn’t work out why we didn’t try a couple of balls over the defence - especially when Leroy was on. Instead we kept trying to work through them but ended up conceding possession.

I think other opponents of ours watching that would be tempted to try the same - give us lots of possession in our half but squeeze the space in the middle of the park.

Agreed

We need to use the width of the pitch more

That means Sterling on the Right and Sane on the Left

having seen a different angle and close up of the aguero offside goal then I concede it was offside by about 3mm
I think he was ruled offside by his bum overhanging the Chelea players foot. So probably correct - but like all VAR overturns the reasons have to be explained -especially to the crowd. They need to learn alot from Cricket in this respect.

Serious question, who should have walked? Didn’t notice any obvious red cards inside the stadium?
Jorginho probably should have walked after 2 seconds. A booking at the very least (which would have seen him sent off in the 2nd half). Rudiger should also have gone after 2 yellow card challenges in the same play sequence - the second one being close to a red card in itself.

Normally that would allow David and KDB to pick the lock with great passes through the channels but they were slightly off their game.
Sane should probably have been brought on 10 or 15 mins earlier, but hey, Chelsea were living off scraps for the entire game so the best team won.

Odd how when Kane was 'offside' v Chelsea it was all about feet and not the rest of his body, yesterday it was the opposite. Has anyone got a clip of this and the elbow in the first seconds?

The only parts of the body that doesnt count in offside decisions are players arms.

Very even game with some concerns, but we had the bottle to win it on penalties, again. Holders, again. Sterling building a case to be club captain after Kompany goes, again.

I know that, my point is when certain players are leaning forward they are offside yet VAR goes on the feet which is wrong. Yesterday it looked a clear offside in real time. Only seen a still of it which looks like his feet were level but his arse wasn't. The liner though was about four yards behind play so probably guessed

Video on this page from the Abu Dhabi National shows the incident 3 times. Jorginho deliberately side swipes Agueros face with his hand. He didnt connect with any power but the intention was there. Should have been a red card.

Not at our best yesterday but enjoyed beating them on penalties. Difference between the two teams is our lads are all together thanks to Peps man management & winning mentality. Great day made by my lad getting a picture with his favourite player SWP outside the ground. I was so focussed on getting the picture I didn't see Lescott & Richards were with him!!!!!
