Football Leaks/Der Spiegel articles

The amount of mud-slinging on social media by dickheads like Duncan Castles is off the scale ... Is there nobody at Man City that wants to make an example of at least one these idiots? The way some of them run their mouths off, there must some grounds for legal action based on defamation. We're just lying down and letting them kick us in the bollocks over and over and over again at the moment .... Really need a new approach from the club, it feels like were under siege from these c*nts ...

Nobody whose opinion is worth caring about, cares what Duncan Castles thinks.
 
I'm not too worried about FFP. However my only fear is they get us on the old mafia trick, in that Der Spiegel come up with something small but irrefutably bad that warrants a look at. Which in turn they use as a means of bringing up all the bigger stuff all of a sudden in a more legitimate way.
I actually think this what they are going for with the whole Sancho thing. Fortunately it's not working at the moment.

Btw, I think I said it earlier in the thread but if there's one club pulling all the strings in this it wouldn't surprise me if it were Borussia Dortmund.
 
Just had a look at some of the recent posts on here. The only question that comes to my mind is that if this Castles guy is such a ****head why are City fans even bothering to get into a dialogue with him. Surely idiots like him will just love the fact he is getting all these responses making him feel somewhat relevant and putting him in the spotlight.

The twitter stuff got to me quite a bit. I’d post a perfectly reasonable comment about reaching a verdict after a proper legal/governing body investigation and then I’d get a message saying I’d claimed the Daily Mail was biased (I’ve never claimed anything like that) and that everyone was anti-City....then it was said that I’d probably been on expenses paid trips to Abu Dhabi etc. - thereby making my credibility and impartiality seem something that could be bought [incidentally I’ve never been outside of Europe or North America and have certainly not been on any kind of all expenses paid trip). I could go on (read the thread on twitter if you want to see what was said in public - unbelievable). I’m not going to engage in discussion again with one of the journalists, there’s no point. As a historian I want the truth, arrived at via properly controlled processes, not a guilty verdict reached by a tabloid journalist based on leaked information. I think Der Spiegel made a huge own goal by publishing a factual error in the opening para of their opening article - it was something that could easily have been corrected - and while I have no idea how much or little of their stories are true (again proper process needed) I do think that basic checking couldn’t possibly have been done because if it had the historical error would’ve been corrected, but then again I’d like to reserve judgement on that until a proper investigation is carried out - if deemed necessary by the legal system or a governing body.

I particularly noted Harris's post after calling you all the names under the sun and questioning your integrity, where he then went on to say it was alright because you and him were basically best mates. He's a waste of pixels on Twitter, and that's saying something. An obnoxious keyboard warrior who blocks anyone who dares to even ask him a question.
If City did nothing else but rattle him and Castles with an early morning knock on the door and a warning, it wouldn't be a waste.

I saw that about mates but had already decided not to react any more to him. Years ago I helped him with a book (in my own time etc.) but I’ve never met or spoken with him since then and I won’t of course help him in the future. Of course mates don’t act like he did in public (or in private DMs).
 
Revenge is a disc best served cold and I hope they will all be stuffed to bursting point very soon.
 
Interesting that the extradition has happened when “our” sins have been spewed out for all to see. We were reportedly a small part of the hacked emails, so even if half of the total were nondescript, it still leaves a significant number on other clubs/organisations...maybe this was also in the thoughts of our hierarchy and their responses...

I strongly suspect many haven't even read anything else leaked by DS, other than the limited papers relating to City.

Is it too much of a leap of faith/hypothesis/conspiracy theory to suggest that they are only bothered with the City stuff as...(drum roll)...it generates clicks and income???

Of course they are going for clicks. And PSG, City and formerly Chelsea were already claimed as the villains and they'll turn any news about them in negative. However, if this is about someone they like they can use a positive lexical language.
An example : there were documents about an offshore company in the name of Ngolo Kanté to avoid tax. In France, and has it appears in UK too, it was painted in a way to depict Kanté as an hero and upright guy in the world of financial depravation that is modern football.

"After reading numerous press articles on image rights and tax investigations against players and clubs, N'golo is increasingly concerned that the set-up proposed to him could be questioned by the tax authorities.
"N'golo decided that he did not want to take any risks."

So, contrary to the narrative, he wasn't so much against the idea before trouble arised for other players in Spain notably. The company was already set up and it was still existing when the Football Leaks came out (dunno about now).

Then, you have an article about City trying to cheat the rules with the offshore company but the tone is not the same at all. You are already the villain.
