FA Cup Semi Final draw - Brighton

One thing that does surprise me about unsold tickets and empty seats is I believe we have a huge waiting list for season tickets. I am sure someone will know the figure but I heard 10,000, it may be more. If a large proportion of these people don't get to a lot of games you think they would jump at the chance to go when they do have that opportunity. This isn't a criticism just something that has puzzled me for a while.

With 25,000 Blues at the Community Shield and 40k at the League acup final and potentially 30k vs Brighton loads of these fans will already have been to Wembley this season

For what its worth I've had a look and as said blocks 522 - 525 were never available - so not sure if these were ever part of our allocation or not or who the tickets may have gone to so nobody knows if they are sold or not. It seems odd as these contain Cat 3 (£45) tickets and would surely have sold if made available on the planner.
Those blocks are always part of the allocation for one or other of the clubs, we had 527 for the League Cup Final against Arsenal last year and the Arsenal fans were right next to us in 526.

Pretty sure that waiting list diminished to a lower number when we opened the 3rd tier of the South Stand. In any case, there's a difference between putting your name down on a waiting list and actually physically going out and buying a ticket or season ticket. I know the terms of the waiting list involved sticking down a £100 deposit but that was fully refundable if you decided not to take up the offer of a season ticket when offered one.

That aside, I do actually think that a good number of fans who aren't normal regular match-goers have bought tickets for this game. Posters on this thread have confirmed that they don't normally get to games but will be going to this as the criteria has allowed them to, so in a way it's great that they have got that opportunity because some of the usual match-goers are giving it a miss.

True I forgot about the south stand extension.

Yep. Also, even at this late stage fans are still buying tickets. I'm not sure what the cut-off is but if it's now collect at stadium on match day then City could theoretically still have them up for sale until tomorrow evening or even have any remaining tickets available to buy from the stadium on Saturday for those who decide right at the death that they're going, in which case they could still open up one or more of those blocks for sale depending on how sales go today

The media are feeding on scraps to find bad news stories on us. Its pretty sad to see . Imagine the melt down if we win everything. The fact they have to keep recyling empty seat and FFP stories tells you all you need to know. We just need to shut it out and enjoy the ride in this mother of all seasons.Come on you BLUES
There are some on this site just as bad to be fair.
Media just have to look on this thread for starters for their bad news.
Then move on to the early leavers and empty seats threads.lol.

So very roughly 25k(?) for Community Shield, 35k for League Cup, 25k plus for the FA Cup semi-final.

Not bad. The media narrative will of course be something different.

How many Man Utd fans have been to Wembley this season?

Unless I am not looking in the right places, I haven’t seen anything in the media.

The bigger the following the better as it will help with atmosphere, etc, because you can be sure Brighton fans will be giving it a good go as they don't get to Wembley too often. However, I think it's out of order if the club have given away any tickets - appreciate they may do it for their own staff but beyond that, to give away tickets that are in the most expensive price categories when some fans have already shelled out full whack isn't on. A fairer system would've been to subsidise every ticket sold so everyone benefits and that way more may have been persuaded. Obviously, we don't know what's gone on with those tickets and we could be barking up the wrong tree.

I agree. May just be a system blip. Just seems odd that we were shifting 300/400 a day, mostly top tier £30 seats and then all a sudden we shift 3000 seats on the lower tier in virtually a day at a higher cost whilst the top tier still chugs along. Who knows with our ticket office. The more the merrier though!

I think the 2,000 will be the Club Wembley seats in Level 2. Blocks 522-525 never went on sale (about 3k) so we'll probably end up at about 26/27k, still a good effort under the circs.

Cheers, I'd seen the other comments afterwards. I haven't looked for a few days.

For me, it's nice to be able to get a ticket, and the having no transport cost offsets the price.

I've been to many Wembley games but yes, that Chelsea final was the worst atmosphere by far. I don't think the game helped much, but far to many tourists filming it and taking pictures which is what we're getting a lot more of these days.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t enjoy that Chelsea final at all and couldn’t wait to get home.

Maybe City made that the tourist section. ;)

True. So genuine question- with (potentially) Champion's League Semis to come (and the QFs), if we win on Saturday to face Wolves/Watford how do you reckon sales would go for the cup final??

maybe the ticket office are taking the piss out of the press.

Not sure if this has anything to do with it. Says we sent 2K back recently so I’m not sure if that means they show up as sold for some reason.

Yeah, agree it was odd. Could've been allocated to staff which would account for some, and now we're hearing Sterling has paid for 550 tickets for the kids at his old school but not sure whether they're upper or lower tier. Either way, outside of the extortionate Club Wembley section, there's probably only 600-700 tickets left on the planner and it looks like they're still shifting

It's not the most well-researched piece.

"Following Tuesday's game at Spurs new stadium trains run till 11 o'clock, giving fans well over an hour until the last train home."

8 pm kickoff, so finishing probably at around 9.55 = "well over an hour" ??

True but you would think returning 2000 tickets is either true or it’s an example of the press taking the piss so worth noting either way. Just thought it might explain the sudden vanishing of seats for sale people have mentioned.
