"The Keeper"

Gonna take the 2 young uns to this and I will not mention what the film is about. Cannot wait. Brought a tear to my eye watching the trailer. Give over he’s a goalkeeper.

Watch carefully - there's a scene where the City bus is surrounded and fans attack Bert. They've CGId in a Liverpool sign in the background....

I was talking to my mother about this, as she was a child in the period when he signed. She was saying how he couldn't do enough for the local St John's she was involved with - that he used to charge for autographs and donate the money raised to them, and would also come along constantly to help out. She liked him a lot, that childlike adoration that we all had. Such an amazing story of redemption and yes, love. Trautmann did more for Anglo-German relations post war than any politician ever did.

Slight claim to fame ...

My grandparents were friends with Bert and his wife when he was at City.

The link...Bert was was married to my nannas best friends sister and they would all go out together either in Bramhall, where Bert lived, or dancing at the Airport Hotel.

Stan Wilson was my grandparents best friend (berts brother in law) and Bert came over for Stans 80th about 20 years ago and i was introduced to him.

To bore you all further...

He used to come to my Dads house in Woodhouse Park to see my grandparents and all the kids used to surround his car, he was the superstar of the day. My dad used to tell everyone Bert was his Uncle haha!

So i shall take my Nanna to see the film. She has early dementia but remembers Bert fondly. She said all the women fancied him

was so looking forward to taking my kids and mrs to see this this weekend and seeing as it is on general realise I thought it would be easy but it seems no cinema in kent is showing it...the nearest place I can find is 60 odd miles away in two London cinema :(

Its on at the Picturehouse Ashford (Kent) all next week. Only one showing a day it seems. Today at 5pm. So either watch Bert at the cinema or go to Wembley for the semi-final

I am taking all the family plus grandparents, to see it at the Everyman in Alty on Sunday, my Dad was a huge fan of Bert. He said Bert's long throws were more accurate than Ederson's kicks!

They bloody well should have been with the amount we paid for him!
