FA Cup Final - 18/05 1700hrs

When we hauled back the eight points I think three of 'em were courtesy of Wigan at The Swamp and the usual stats were trotted out that The Pie Eaters hadn't won at The Swamp since Nelson whipped the French with that diving 'eader! I always used to say to Ragamuffins that sooner or later, probably much later than sooner we will win a derby. Oh, how they laughed. They haven't had much to laugh at in recent derbies unless they can laugh at Beaker. `No matter how long it is since X last won a game, sooner or later . . . . . . . . . .!

We were at home the night they were away to wigan who did have a habit of losing 4-0 to united.

No one talked about wigan winning it was that unexpected, and we were about 40/1 to win the league and had given up hope.

To be honest whilst the number of people queuing for trains at Wembley Park is high, I think they manage it well and it’s not particularly stressful. The stress bit is worrying about whether you can get a train for me but trains to MK are very frequent and run until late at night so no worry. I like to stay in the stadium if we win until the celebrations are over and it’s a shame that so many can’t do this with transport to get.

The kick off times are a joke. The FA trying to make as much money as possible from the TV companies. When there are no other games it should be 3pm or 4pm at the latest

Quicker to get on a tube from Wembley Park than it is waiting for an Ashton tram!

It is a shame it has moved to 5.30pm kick offs. My memories as a child of the FA Cup final were playing a game in the morning, coming home and then watching the build up, the history of the clubs and what it would mean to the fans. Highlights of games gone by and previous finals and it was just such a special occasion. It remains, for me, a much bigger competition than the CL purely because it is so iconic in English football.

The Wigan final at 5.30pm was carnage. Nearly everyone was off their tits because they still travel down and drinking as if it was a 3pm game. With the Mancini rumours in full swing it was such an odd occasion. Perhaps because of the result, the kick off time doesn't sit well with me, but it is just wrong to push back to 5.30pm simply because of foreign audiences when our game has always been about 3pm starts.

I can't see this one being a 3pm game though.

Agreed and don't think there's any chance of a 3pm as everything pointing towards 5:30 apart from an FA announcement so far. Stinks.

It was special as in those days there weren't many live games on tv. I loved cup final day. It started early in the morning, at the teams hotels, updates, how the teams got there, interviewing fans, ex players, managers and then the game. It was magical. Now with wall to wall coverage and the internet it is just another game, albeit with a trophy on offer. Sad really.

I have spoken with supporter services this morning and was told despite the bbc saying the ko is confirmed as 5.30 it hasn’t yet been confirmed by the clubs or FA .

The problem is that if the game is at 5.30 and sells out then the FA will say what's the fuss about. The club / fans should be talking to the FA about ticket prices and kick off times. No point in protesting about times and prices if we then sell out.

Do you reckon the club would say anything behind closed doors anyway? Fully expect it to fall on deaf ears mind but would be nice to see the club at least trying to represent fans frustrations and doing something about it.

Would be great if they came out and said we tried to make a case but the old farts who don't have to pay for anything and lead a pampered lifestyle weren't interested.

Yeah, even if it get's nowhere initially it could hopefully wake some other clubs up to do the same, similar to what happened when we had ridiculous prices for Arsenal away. Won't hold my breath though.

I have no idea why there is no official confirmation as to the kick off time yet. Surely they must know? It is yet another indication of the contempt in which they treat match going fans who have to book trains, coaches and hotels. Then they have the cheek to moan about empty seats. Wankers.

I would have thought to reach the biggest audiences in China/India/far east etc then the ideal ko would be 3pm.
HK/China 7 hours in front India 5 and half hours in front so would be prime time for them.

No chance it goes on general sale.

okey doke. i was fancying a trip out into the sunlight, i've never been to a cup final with City before. I'm 100% armchair, daytripper material so i'm hanging out for general sale.

Me neither. But match going fans are now so far down the list of priorities the Premier, the FA etc don't give a stuff. Equally the same can be said of the TV companies as well not giving a shit. Why were Chelsea playing last night when they are in Europe on Thursday. Why not give English teams every opportunity of doing well in Europe. I believe Chelsea did ask for the game not to be on the Monday night only for their request to be refused.

Do wemley flog the club wembley seats taht the rich rags\scousers\arse fans etc dont want to use directly or are they all peddled directly on to the tyout sites?

They are not theirs to sell as holders of those seats have no way of returning unwanted tickets.

It amazes me how inflation over the last three years Is 3.2%, why were the semi final tickets 31%higher than two years ago
Tickets for the final were £45,65,£85,
Its all so wrong

It's a joke. Match going fans once again at the bottom of the list. I'm sure I read somewhere earlier in the season that the final was being moved back to it's traditional 3pm KO last game of the season slot. Goalposts moved yet again by the FA/TV companies. Do they realise how difficult it can be to get back up North after an evening KO ?
