Var debate 2019/20

Sooooo it went in off his hip?
How many times do you need to argue that, when it is irrelevant? I already responded in the affirmative. You chose to IGNORE my insistence that it GLANCED OFF HIS FUCKING ARM FIRST??

I give up.

No way was Otta's deliberate in my view too!

I've learned a bit about VAR tonight tho. I wondered why the ref didnt get called to the booth to review the offside. Apparently they only get to do that if the decision is subjective. Therefore, someone in the booth must have thought like you that he could have got his hand out of the way so left it to the Ref to decide.

Of the 2 decisions I'm more concerned about the offside tbh. The media are saying it was clearly off but I don't think the tech clearly shows that he was, as no-one can be sure of the moment it flicked off our player and Sergio's position at that point. If the tech can't show you that reliably (which I don't think it can) then the goal should stand for me.

I've seen a still and it's really, really close. I would say just offside but enough doubt for it to be actually talked about and shown.

I know.

It hit his arm then hip. But his hip scored the goal. So its a goal.
You gotta be kidding right? The reason the ball hits his hips afterwards is irrelevant. The ball hits his arm first. Therefore the goal should be disallowed. Or would you say that a player who tries to controls a ball from a cross with his arms (while trying to use his chest), and scores because of that situation should be allowed?

Forgive me if it’s already been mentioned but wasn’t Son offside in the lead up to their first corner before the goal? I was right in line with it and it looked miles off but haven’t caught a replay yet

VAR might well work for somebody with a remote clutched in their paw sat at home, I see it killing the live game sadly what was the point of our celebration tonight which is what we go for, can't see me renewing for champions league next season.
Fucked it off 2 years ago because of the corrupt officials , now we’ve got corrupt VAR...but the main thing is it kills the joy of a goal celebration(which is what we go for) stone dead. This is in the premier league next season so after 40 years watching football Leicester v City will be my final game , VAR is the final nail in the coffin of the game I used to love.....changed forever .

Clattenburg says it doesn't matter if it slightly touched him as the last touvh was with his hip and so it doesn't count as it is scored by the arm. And to be honest, i agree with him. I'd be furios if we scored that and it was cancelled.

"If the ball had gone in off his arm or hand then it would have been disallowed, even if the contact was not deliberate.

However, the slow-motion replay clearly showed that the ball went in via Llorente's upper thigh. There was a suggestion that Llorente's skin rippled and perhaps the ball did brush his arm - but that contact would have been so slight and the goal is scored with the thigh, not the arm."

The goal has still come from it touching his arm. Absolute semantics.

After the Otamendi handball decision they “cleared up” handball incidents (posted on page 27)
I’ve also heard 2 referees say it shouldn’t have stood.
That's defending a shot at goal though. We are talking about scoring a goal at the other end. Which the link I showed you "clears up".

Var will ruin football. The great moments are ruined. It was 5-3 tonight and nobody at the ground saw a pen in the first leg. I though it would work but it is clearly a way of fooking us and others over to make excitement for tv audiences in the middle of nowhere.

You’re a fool.

I’m sat here stunned but calls were the right ones.

I’ll take losing like that against the match fixing last year vs Liverpool anyday

So close.
Correct for me too.

Also we missed a penalty and gave the ball away twice for their two first half goals tonight. Don’t do those things and VAR isn’t even a talking point!

Obviously the semantics is in it being the part of body who scores and it's not the case here.

I know it hurts but any of you wanting that t be ruled out would be furious if it was City's goal and got canceled. I certainly would. It was the tiniest of touch and it didn't went in from the hand.

Alas I don't think you'll be on your own
