Well said Samaru. I being Manchester born and bred and a Blue for over 60 years and now living and supporting City from Sri Lanka have been totally depressed for the last couple of days. It is going to take some getting over.
 


I just find that incredibly sad to watch. All those people in and around that church, there to simply worship their God (irrespective of your views on religion), and many of those on that video (the majority, possibly?) were slaughtered a few minutes later by that bomber, assuming the the bloke with the rucksack is the bomber. What the fuck is wrong with people, that they have such hatred towards others that they have no compunction about blowing those victims to pieces.
 
We have a gut in Sri Lanka that works for us. He would have ordinarily been in/at the St Anthony's Shrine at the time of the blast. As it turns out, he and his family had other commitments so went to the shrine several hours earlier - stories like that bring these things home even thought they are far away

I do wonder if technology is making us unhappy. It’s perfectly plausible that it is. It can wreak so much widespread havoc in the wrong hands, and the wrong hands are seemingly getting their hands on it with increasing frequency, this atrocity being yet another tragic example.

Maybe all this was inevitable. Give a monkey a brain etc..

Anyway, the technology genie’s out of the bottle now. We have to see this through to the bitter end, for better or worse.

What I couldn't get my head round is that he even seemed to pat a little girl on the head on the way to do it, I clearly have no understanding of how a suicide bomber is thinking just before he does the job, its simply incredible to watch it.

I’ve seen you bang this drum before mate but I’m unsure how you can blame technology on this one when there is an enormous religion shaped elephant in the doorway.

I am, by saying religion, rather unfair on Pagans/Buddhists and the vast majority of worshippers who’s religions don’t have weekly suicide bombers.

There is always a rush to blame organised religion, encompassing all of them, labelling them all as naive sky fairy
cults, the root of all these atrocities, when, in fact, apart from a very small minority, these outrages have their
roots in one religious philosophy. It's simple to check on terrorist outrages worldwide, the overwhelming majority
do not come from brainwashed Anglicans, or other large religions, they're from the same source.

Because technology gives grass roots religious nutters the means to deliver widespread misery in a way that wasn’t possible before industrialisation.

I’m certainly not looking to absolve religion, or any associated sky faries, of any blame.
