Ben Chilwell

Why? 22 starts, 22 wins in the PL. We have 70% possession in pretty much every game, and he works great in our system. Intelligent, good on the ball, great passing...
I like Zincliff, but you could argue that before him Delph was found out in the same position and was targeted by the opposition.

It`s the opposite. People want him because he`s English. Digne, for example, is a lot better than him but he`s French, so no one gives a fuck about him

Don’t agree. Plenty of negative talk of any English player on here. Digne is ok, think he’s been average for Everton though. Also he’s older then chillwell and has played for a few clubs

People want him, including pep. Because he’s a very good young player, with lots of potential

Because there are not many good ones who doesn`t play for us. Digne was awarded player of the season for Everton as well. Easily better than Chilwell

Digne is better than Chillwell but not by that much. If Chilwell didn't count as a homegrown there would be no chance in hell that we'd be after him.

If his name was chillwellino more people would want him on here .....

Good enough for pep. Good enough for us

Don’t doubt he’s a good player but you have to look at the fee in context. £75 for a left back - how much would he improve us? It’s like £52 for Fred or 208 million Freddos for the same fee. I know which I’d take !

a), because we must always look to improve
b), if the defence is called upon more in the coming seasons because others have strengthened, then the current incumbents might be further exposed
Here are some facts:
Zinchencko gave up fewer chances a game that Kyle Walker. Was caught in possession fewer times
Add to that, he had more key passes, created more chances, more assists , and we also won every game Zin started on the left.

According to the numbers we are weaker both defensively and offensively at Rightback. For good measure, Zinchencko leads the team in tackles per game. 2nd in interceptions. Ota has a better average. Then again Ota' played so few games that his numbers are skewed. So really Zinchencko was the consistent starter who led the team in both interceptions and tackles. Has a 91% pass completion rate. In case you thought he gave up the ball too much. He doesn't. That too is better than Walker's or Danny Lowe's. Touches per game? 84, 2nd only to Larporte at 85, no one else cracks 74 touches.

These are just some of the facts that gives me pause when this discussion comes up. It's as if the facts don't matter.

Can we get better at Leftback? Sure. Do we have a weakness at Leftback? No we don't. Not even close.

Good post. We look far more balanced when Zinchenko plays.

Sure Watford will be launching balls into his vicinity tomorrow, but it's up to the team to win the second balls quickly and not give it away again.

I agree we need a right back. I’d like a left back too.

So, for clarity are you saying Zin is an excellent LB?
