That is nice. Don't think much to their home one, though it's nice to have the option without the sponsor.

I think most people would agree that Umbro make decent kits. Given a choice between a nice shirt or a fuckload of extra cash in our coffers then I’m afraid it’s a no brainer for the club.

I may be mistaken but isn't there some sort of dispensation that allows clubs to sell unsponsored shirts if the sponsoring company is an alcoholic beverage or betting company? Those that object to drinking alcohol or gambling for moral/religious reasons most likely wouldn't want to wear a football shirt promoting those activities.

I'm not sure the league, or whomever it is that decides these matters, would see it reasonable to have people objecting to airlines, automotive makers, or tyre companies for reasons like that.

As a credentialed member of several metrosexual communes, I can say with complete confidence that none of us would have ever designed that purple crime against the sighted.
 
Well done West Ham. That away one without the sponsor name would look great with a nice pair of jeans and trainers. Sounds like they might've consulted the fans with that one...go figure !

Kits don't "move on"

People who buy them do so just to have the latest one, like phones. There need be no great difference between the last and the latest for folk to part with their money.

They're symbolic of a team. Unless you go down the Cardiff route you don't "move on" from your colours, ever.

It's this incessant need to appeal to kids playing FIFA who will want their virtual team to play in the "jazziest" kit. A heap of shite.
