Not so much the fairly mundane letter in this article, but the comments...

People aren’t seeing much in terms of things going in the right direction here.

I’ve avoided going into Town so far in 2019. Had enough of the place getting me down. Go straight to City from home and to home from City at the moment. I’d usually spend all day or evening in Town but haven’t bothered for ages.

I think it’s finally time to kick Labour out of Manchester. But who the fuck do we get in? The Tories? No ta! Liberals?

Yeah I don’t feel unsafe but Im just fucking sick to death of shit everywhere. Litter, full on rubbish bags, broken glass, needles, empty laughing gas metal pods, bedding, prone humans and human faeces and vomit all over the show.

Well said, and its not just manchester, look at areas like Stockport, Ashton

Is it time to make Manchester Green? Greens got in in Altrincham and finished second in Gorton last year.

Greens may be exactly what we need in the city centre and maybe across the city.
 
Aunty who lives in Bedfordshire, been up to Manchester last two days for the Spice Girl concert. Went shopping in the city centre yesterday and for a meal, around 4pm - 7pm. Said she’s never seen a scruffy looking city and felt intimated all the time especially on the trams.

She’s quite a tough women so god knows what impression our city gives to others.

I’ve lived in Ashton most of my life, still some nice surrounding areas and it’s generally friendly but it’s suffering badly from the current economic climate, there’s plenty of reasons but the PC brigade would get upset if identified.

She should try waiting for a bus in Walthamstow or perhaps walk through Clapton in the afternoon.

No different to any other city in the UK tbf, major parts of london amd birmingham are dire, but spread out

Manchester city centre suffers.from beibg a tiny space tbf with everything in a cramed into a small radius.

So is Liverpool but at the risk of abuse the city is much cleaner than Manchester and the police there are regularly seen moving on the druggies that pass out in shop doorways. Here they will walk past them because it is so much out of control. Piccadilly Gardens is the pits. Not just the people who hang about there but the grassed areas are unkempt and the disgraceful concrete wall is, well disgraceful.

Manchester has so much investment at the moment but it looks dirtier every time I go in and I am there three times a week for work and socialise every weekend.

Commendable they are tackling the spice heads and druggies as they can make a city centre look intimidating and daunting to the unassuming traveler. What a great shame they don't put as much effort and gusto into tackling criminal damage issues.
