Community Shield 2019 - date confirmed as Sunday 4th August, 3pm ko

Hate to say it but Wembley is just not that nice a day for me.

Won’t be rushing back in a hurry even if we get to an fa cup final.

Just find it all a huge chore!

If you hate to say it why do you bother saying It?

Who gives two flying fucks that they have a bigger fanbase than us - I bloody don't. I now live just outside Liverpool and work in Liverpool. They will try and wind me up about the empty stadium amongst other things but it doesn't work...…. facts hurt them more

Premier league champs - us,
domestic treble - us
197pts over 2 years - us

There own stadium empty when it wasn't filled because of a bloody volcano exploding - they have no reply

They can take 60k cretins if that's what they want - as long as we can win and celebrate who gives a flying toss. They are becoming obsessed with us because in their deluded heads they believe that it should be them that deserve to win the title, not earn it but deserved to win it

Well said bud

So I can’t say I don’t enjoy Wembley! Ok then I won’t. Enjoy your day.

Of course you can say you don't enjoy watching City play at Wembley and win trophy after trophy, for you it is a chore , something you have endured, but will not be doing it again. Don't see anything wrong with that.-;)

This forum will be a wretched place if we don't have a variety of opinions! I've enjoyed all my visits to Wembley apart from one! But it is a bugger of a place. Tube from North London, fucking helluva a walk from and back to WP station, all that kettling on Olympic Way! Good job we win more 'n we lose. It'd be a fucker of a day as that one where I got pissed wet through going back to the coach which was only parked 150 yards away!

I think you are trying to be sarcastic. I went to 40 games last season and loved virtually all of them and lived and breathed the season like everyone else. But I don't enjoy Wembley much - I am entitled to my opinion. Next year if we get to the Fa Cup final I am going to watch at home with the family. I will be as happy as any person in that stadium if we do it. The whole Wembley experience leaves me cold. I couldn't even get a meat and potato pasty in Greggs this season for goodness sake!

What are you reasons for saying that we should boycott this?

'Cos we should be playing Watford! The main title domestically is the PL. We won that so our place at the CC is secured. We play the winners of the FArce Cup. As we won it, and the FArce won't let us play ourselves, we should play the runners-up - who were Watford. I don't know whether Watford were asked, but I should imagine some apparatchik at the FArce had a free ticket to Wembers last month and maybe saw a repeat, which wouldn't produce a good omen for the coming season, so the game is hi-jacked by the Dippers who get another free shot at turning us over! I'd like to see the transcript where it was decided. Is there a precedent of League and Cup Doubles ending up with winners and runners-up of the league playing each other?

Chelsea League/Cup double 09/10: Charity Shield vs 2nd placed Man United
Arsenal League/Cup double 01/02: Charity Shield vs 2nd placed Liverpool
Man Utd League/Cup double 98/99: Charity Shield vs 2nd placed Arsenal

and so on...

"The Football Association Community Shield (formerly the Charity Shield) is English football's annual match contested between the champions of the previous Premier League season and the holders of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium. If the Premier League champions also won the FA Cup then the league runners-up provide the opposition"

For as long as I can remember it’s always been 2nd placed team if someone wins the double. In 1996 United played Newcastle as they’d done the double

They should just award us the shield, we won both trophies that entitle you to play in the game, nobody else did.

Surely 198 points over two seasons?

Can’t wait to get there. Not sure what all the fuss is about. Couldn’t give a fuck if there’s 750,000 scouse rats there. The more the better. Will be nice to see them all phlegming into their candles when we tear them a new one again.

Wembley is the sort of place you want to go for a cup final.. But when you include spurs with the PL, we will have visited the place 5 times in a 12 month period. Its far to much, the Wembley area and transporting of fans cant accommodate. Times of kick offs made worse.

We have a choice to go or not to go, if you don't mind staying over and a piss up down there then enjoy it. Personally I go to watch football not make a weekend of it. In that case Wembley in a nutshell is shite and a lot worse than a league game at Chelsea or arsenal or Fulham for example.

I don't go to charity shield or cup semi.
