And therein lies the problem. He a decent centre back, comfortable on the ball and quite good in the air. The thing is he is as slow as molasses and he does like to go wandering up the pitch. In our set up, where the centre backs are encouraged to play out to the half way line I can see him consistently getting caught of position. If we are just going to replace Otamendi with another version of Otamendi why not just keep the original.Committing errors here and there isn't a problem, the problem is HM has zero recovery pace to fix them. Maguire defending on the half-way line is a frightening prospect.

There has been so much noise about this transfer and it honestly just seems so so ridiculous to me that we would even consider paying close to 80 million for him. He's a quality player don't get me wrong and would be a great addition but anything more than 40 is an absolute rip off.
