It's Quiet 32 - enter at own risk

Manchester City have shown no interest in signing either Bruno Fernandes or Joao Felix this summer. The club are not in the market for any attacking players, with Guardiola keen to step up Phil Foden’s playing time and showing faith in Riyad Mahrez.

Pep Guardiola is also happy with both Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus as his strikers, and is not seeking an addition in that area.

Nicolas Otamendi was expected to leave this summer, however Vincent Kompany’s departure is has made him reconsider. City have high hopes for Eric Garcia (18) and Philippe Sandler (22), who will both be involved with the first-team squad next season. [@StuBrennanMEN]

We've just got 198 points over 2 seasons, won 6 trophies. As much as you never want to sit still and rest on your laurels I don't think we could bring anyone in who's going to do that without spending ridiculous amount of money.

We have been brilliant, no doubt about it. Pep is absolutely relentless and is the best manager in the world, but there will come a time possibly in 2 years time when his contract runs out where the next manager coming in won't quite set the same high standards as Pep. So we need to put ourselves in the best position possible for when he leaves. We are losing some huge characters over the next few years... Fernandinho, Agueroro, Silva etc. Kompany already gone. We need to keep bringing in the best we can, even if that means paying an absolute fortune now. We have to take these risks to maintain the high standards that have been set.

Everyone wants x amount of signings but the club's vision and succession plans have to be taken into consideration as well. If we know certain players are moving on in a year then we can put their replacements on hold until then. Hypothetically:

Players leaving this summer: Kompany, Delph, Danilo, Otamendi, Mangala
Players coming in: Rodri, Manolas (Otamendi replacement), Cancelo (Danilo replacement). Garcia/Sandler promoted as fourth CB

Next summer's expiring contracts: Fernandinho, Silva, Bravo, Gundogan, Zinchenko (Delph and Mangala would be on this list as well, but we're assuming they go this summer)

Silva and Bravo will be gone without direct replacements being needed - Steffen/Muric could be our number two and if we are to extend Gundogan, then Ilkay + De Bruyne + Bernardo + Foden is plenty for our two 8 positions.

Rumors also indicate Zinchenko's renewal is close. We can still hold off on selling Sane until next summer. That leaves summer 2020 signings as another DM to replace Fernandinho (we may already have that player on our books), and a player to replace Sane (if we can't get him extended by then).

I can't see more than three players coming in either of the next two summers, and I think the exact amount will be 5-6.

Of course, a transfer ban could throw all this to shit. But I can't really speculate on that until we hear more about it.

Spot on. Whenever a team wins the league, their fans don’t see the need for much improvement and why would they when they’ve just proven to be the best team in the league, twice in a row in our case, but if you stand still, you get caught and overtaken relatively quickly.

In two years time we could very possibly be without silva Kompany Fernandinho Aguero and indeed Pep, that’s our entire core If were not thinking ahead now, it’s going to be a very costly, busy and volatile period that will take some time to transition through.
