Question Time

woman just now ..................wow......................all political persuasions just got it both barrels

The one with 14 grandkids? It was certainly good to see those panelist’s squirm. I’m never a fan of just sort it out rants but in certain cases it applies and what’s happening with knife crime is shocking.

If and when the police numbers increase and a full on effort to sort this begins I would expect another rant from a different person to be heard on question time.

No she wasn't. She just did what she accused everyone else of doing, blaming everyone else.
Too right, anyone taken in by her rant is naive as fuck. No responsibility is taken by families, too many one parent households where the dad has fucked off is rife in inner cities.

I thought she was an horrible fucker and the panelist’s didn’t bother replying too much because gobby twats like her don’t listen. I agree with you on Police Numbers, put more bobbies on the streets of Tottenham and they will riot again, citing an overbearing police presence is ruining their community. Until they take responsibility for their own families and community gang culture, knives, drug use and criminality will prevail in areas like Tottenham.

Why are MMR vaccinations down again? I thought the discredited medical evidence was shown o be just that, nonsense.

One whole swathe of the population won’t touch it until they are assured it is Halal and not haram as it contains bovine extracts and gelatine.

Bring back National Service to sort this shit out... there is no need to teach weapon handling (arguably they don't need it)

Every UK citizen should go through a period of "UK Citizenship" training where they would be taught to be self-sufficient e.g. get the basic life skills to feed themselves, dress themselves and look after themselves but crucially they would be taught how to respect themselves and other people and get some f******* respect back in their lives. This applies to the "haves" in society just as much as the "have nots".

If we did this then we could use this "captive audience" to deal with all the shit we moan about, inner city squalor etc. they could work on community projects and improve the places that the deprived live in

It works for other nations so why not ours.. are we too soft?

Which counties does this work in? But to answer your question, assuming it’s serious, is money.

Germany has national service as far as I am aware (or did) Croatia does I think. I have not researched this but think it would work

I realise its about money but some things are worth investment surely.. what's the worst that could happen

Citizen Training sounds very North Korean so the name might need a bit of work!

I’m not totally against what you are saying but just look what is going on with the relationship lessons in those schools in Birmingham. People object to ‘the state’ teaching things like that as those topics should be ‘left to the parents’

People would object that they feel the state are telling them how to parent and the whole ‘didn’t do me any harm’ brigade would be out. Maybe these classes should be for the adults not the kids!

But the adults would eventually have done the training I am suggesting once the system had matured. All respect seems to have gone these days and I may sound like my Granddad used to by saying that but I really don't think we can function effectively as a nation or as a society without it

Further investment in prisons and alternatives to prison are required, but that’s not a vote winner so forget it

There has always been divides in society, we used to send kids up chimneys, sell tickets to mental asylums and there have always been gangs of thugs/criminals - there has been a break in the social contract I.e work for the country and the country will support you. That may not have been true but people at least thought the country and the higher-ups took them into consideration

How many people do you think would sign up for the trenches these days?

Social media doesn’t help. It creates sides. You are either pro-hand out or you want to send the unemployed and disabled to workhouses. You are either support the idea of alternatives to prison or you want to lock people up and throw away the key. People need to think more about themselves. They one day could be ‘the other’

Encourage people to read more books. Abolish shite like ITV2 and ‘reality’ TV. Let people believe they can accomplish anything, give them hope. Trouble is the ‘higher-ups’ don’t want that. They like things just as they are

It would be a tough sell that's for sure... I did 22 years in the Royal Air Force and it made me who I am today but some would never contemplate it because it's "not for them".. How do they know that though unless they have experienced it? Our eldest son is in the Royal Air Force too and the role he has, coupled with the qualifications he is aiming for will set him up for life but some think that the military is just about killing people.

The issue these days is that lots of people just aren't team players or they are only required to focus on themselves. People focus on their own journey and rarely think that they will never be in "the other camp" e.g. the "have nots". They do say I think that we are generally only a few payslips from homelessness so its a precarious balance.

I agree about the endless desire for trash TV, we really don't need it and I feel for the latest generation who can't even contemplate life without it. I'm so glad I lived a fair chunk of my life before the IOT although I appreciate its benefits.

I think you are right on the country contract, particularly socially.

Everyone nowadays just cracks on but they get angry driving, get angry on Twitter, get angry with their neighbours, get angry at an old woman budging into their trolley. I have seen city fans hurling abuse at each other in the car park trying to get out after a game.

No-one has any time for each other nowadays and they'll fundamentally do anything to get one up on someone else. People can't just chill and accept life for what it is and they'd rather upset someone to win an argument than just accept that maybe someone thinks differently to them.

No-one cared about politics years ago but now politics and the issues that divide us are pretty much the main topics at work. We see it on this forum, there is no understanding or midway point, it's one way or the other way with no room whatsoever for any compromise view.

Even better when do you see someone on Twitter or whatever say let's just forget this and have a beer.

The country is broken and for me it boils down to a loss of identity, values and the transfer to a take, take, take, me, me, me culture.

Great post... I have seen Blues on Blues in car parks myself... it's a little crazy isn't it

We just don't seem to have time to relax and slow down these days.. I blame technology in part as we can't switch off... Thank God for the do not disturb function on my work phone

It sounds like a stupid thing to do but around a year ago I set a repeating meeting in MS Outlook because I work from home.. it's called "Lunch" and occurs at 12:00 - 13:00 weekdays... It does work

I can't get past Fiona's fingers waving in every shot of the panellists speaking. She apparently needs not only to continually drown out her guests with inane questions but also to keep her body parts on camera every few seconds to remind everyone its her show.
