Harry Maguire

We were discussing here , the merit of getting Maguire over de ligt would be down to wages and agent fee that pizza boy is demanding.

That's why this sounds BS to me . If this were anywhere near the truth , we would no doubt be looking at De Ligt more seriously given the total fees for both would be similar

Very worried about this. I dont think he is that good. I really dont. With Mahrez I knew what we are getting but even he is struggled to really break trough and show himself coming from a weaker club where he was the biggest fish.

For Maguire to come from Leicester where he is the best defender to come here and having to prove he deserves to start over Stones or Otamendi is a big jump. Could end up an expensive sub imo unless he hits the ground running.

Is he really that much better than Stones?

We will be made to pay similar sum like Pool did with Van Dijk and big wages too but is he a rock like him? I very much doubt that.

I still have a feeling his agent is pulling City's name into this "bidding war" and trying to get more out of United...

For the quoted price and salary above why not go for De Ligt who could be the Mbappe of the defence...

Wouldnt mind Maguire for 40m as a sub or one with rotation with Stones. But club record signing, even maybe closer to 80 than 60m, is he fucking Alessandro Nesta or Paolo Maldini?

That's assuming de ligt would want to come. The club could be aware that the Dutch boy is a complete non starter.

By all accounts , he was offered to city. We backed out due to wages and the agent.

Hence my post , that this mirror news about us offering Maguire 280K / week to be BS

It's strange how many seem to be preoccupied with how much the transfer fee may be or how much he may get in wages.
It's not our money and whatever we pay won't change amid any concerns raised.
At the end of the day it's not actually certain that he is coming, likely but not certain.

Just to caveat, the Daily Mirror is without a doubt, the worst outlet in the country for actual accurate transfer news.

They now cross share with Daily Star and the Express, just to further underline how truly awful they are.

The reports on Maguire and Rodri start with the words "poised to" and "set to"

Classic couching in the profession and code for guessing.

As for £280k a week, we aren't even prepared to pay less for De Ligt.
