I think you'll find his basic wage will be something along the lines of 180k a week and the other 100k, IF they are right about it being 280k that is, will be made up of bonuses and what not.

I think 280k is almost certainly bullshit, but if they are correct that he signed a new deal in September people are seriously underestimating what his wages are actually going to be. If he was on 80k a week prior to that deal as was reported, he’ll easily be in the 100k+ bracket currently and as the world record fee centerback (or close to it) and an England international he should get something like 200k from us, a tier right below our top earners.

Edit: or as you said in another post its plausible bonuses + image rights or whatever could take him to that level on an all in basis
