Basketball maybe physical but it's still less of a contact sport though as far as the rules go(as I understand them), Baseball definitely is, pitchside brawls are nothing to do with it. We have those in football, they'll have seen South American atmospheres more than we have and it gets way more aggressive than any baseball game in some of those games. I can see a large amount of them are macho and need their violence but those two sports would not be as popular as they are if it was the main reason Soccer isn't as popular.Baseball is a relatively stationary sport but watched any double plays, sliding into home or bench clearing brawls? NBA is extremely physical
To be fair, that is going to sting a bit.Get up you drama queen
For a supposed non-contact sport Basketball is incredibly physical. This is true as well which is probably why the women's team gets so much good attention & support in the US, they win & win often - at least their game is wonderful to watch

You’re both underestimating how much the culture is changing in the metropolitan areas of the USA. The growth trajectory of the MLS and localised football leagues alone is impressive, and money (especially the commercial/advertising sort) follows interest/demand. Wages follow money. And so on.

You’ve forgotten Hockey ! can’t wait to hear what you think about that. All american sport is shit.
Baseball is cricket for thick people .
American football is rugby for thick people.
Basketball is a womens game for thick people.
From reading about football history here, and talking to various people that have been working to build the game in the USA for quite some time, a lot of the women’s dominance comes from it being an upper middle-class sport in the USA, which is obviously not the case in nearly every other country in the world. It is also partly due to it not originating in America (even though most American sport didn’t, either) and so it had been seen as “lesser-than” by patriarchal forces, driving young lads to certain “acceptable” sport, leaving football open to girls to play (though, it was still a struggle for them to get support to do so for football specifically, unlike other places).Basketball is less of a contact sport though, Baseball definitely is pitchside brawls are nothing to do with it we have those in football. Maybe there is a macho element to the reasons for it in that the women seem to have claimed it as a female sport where it's been a man's game in the rest of the world for as long as it's existed.
