amphetamines

A friend does the drug testing for the military he says weight loss tablets are the biggest cause of false positives in his experience. Fatty. :-)

Heya Peacefrog,

I actually work as a forensic toxicologist so maybe I can help. Occupational drug test usually start with a screen, a really non-specific catch all test, that if tested positive goes forward to a more specific/expensive test to give the exact metabolites and concentration.

The best thing you can do at this stage is find out what your exact test results are. Typically with amphetamine you tend to detect the metabolite instead of the drug itself, unless you were off your head within a few hours of the test.

A previous poster mentioned potential laboratory error, which is certainly a possibility. I would recommend getting a formal copy of the results it may be a mistake or you may inadvertently given a false positive through some other medication.

it was a very basic work test at work,my 2nd test has been sent off for a more accurate reading,and I should know the results within 7 days,cheers

mate it feels like it, joining the union tomorrow, because if the 2nd one comes back as positive(I'm 100% it wont) then the only thing I can think off I've been spiked at work, christ knows why, i don't hold a position of power and im not the sort of person to piss people off, I'm fucking baffled

I'd just like to say that whilst I've been taking the Mickey somewhat in this thread, I hope it all works out for you. From what I've read, I think you'll be fine once the second test comes back.

Treat it as a bonus holiday in the meantime (one could even suggest you are duty free...). Don't stress about it. You know the truth.
