it is central to a great deal of rationale to leave. All the evidence I see though is that when we don't like something we opt out. We are by a mile the least compliant nation. That for me is evidence. There must be more than 'I think this or that might happen' surely?

Absolutely.

The ‘cake and eat it’ scenario Johnson referred to is really our current position in the EU.

When this is all said and done and things have calmed, it’ll be apparent how absolutely insane we were to try and change that.

There couldn’t ever be evidence for it, unless some sort of document was leaked from Brussels, explaining their plans, but such document probably doesn’t exist.

I really do not buy the line that we should leave because of what may happen.
Just to add, I'm positive that such plans do exist in Brussels, indeed George's wicki article described some of them. The point is that the UK has to agree to further integration. Whilst it might happen in the future because someone in government thinks its a grand idea, its surely not inevitable which it the contention by some posters this morning.

Yeah that’s true and I’m not sure it would be as bad as everyone makes out.

I think it’s more of an identity thing rather than whether it would be actually good for the country or not.

Not entirely convinced that taking the railways or water companies back into public ownership is going to lead us all into ruination. Besides most of you complaining about ruining the economy under Labour are quite happy to risk ruining the economy over Brexit so I don’t think you are that ‘concerned’ about the economy as you claim.
I think you will find this is a fuller and more reliable guide to the Labour Party leadership's future plans than selected manifesto commitments untested by the reality of power.

Manifesto's are rather like those sample menus that restaurants sometimes publish. They give you an idea of what's on offer but when you turn up to eat some of the best items have been left off the real menu and a lot of other things are included instead.

Sigh, I didn't say it was true. Like many things on Social media though, I have heard people reference it as true.

I was trying to find evidence as to why it was 'inevitable' that there be further integration if we remain in the EU. Thats the question I asked. Do you have evidence?

I was pulling yer plonker mate

  • State Pension - Asquith's Liberal government, 1908.
  • Public Libraries - existed long before the Labour Party.

Agreed ...

original pensions act of 1908 was put into place by Asquiths Government. But it was not universal in scope and limited to people of limited income. It wasn't until Beveridge produced his white papers in 1944 on education / employment and a pension system for all that pensions were available for everybody. This was implemented by the post war Labour party.

I stated 'socialist parties' not the 'labour party' - Public libraries came about due to pressure from the Chartists (who were a working class party) - see Peterloo which led to the birth of the Chartist and Levellers movement . Prior to that Libraries were either attached to Museums (or as Vic pointed out - Schools such as Chethams) or held a membership base which required a subscription out of the reach of the average working man.

I hear that Oakshott has been sitting on a pile of emails proving that Banks connection to Russian Officials was pretty deep. I strongly suspect that that is where the majority of his contribution to Leave came from.

Apparently the last ‘source’ of an exclusive of hers is now banged up, or at least was. What happened to journalists not giving up their sources? It will be interesting to see what happens when she’s dragged into questioning about this ‘leak’

It will be interesting but the silence from the current police investigation is deafening.
