Harry Maguire

We shouldn't pay the fee being asked, however unlike recent rags signings I do think that we will regret not signing Maguire in years to come.
Dissapointing were not getting him.

We should have signed VVD and blown Liverpool out of the water when we had the chance.

VVD alongside Kompany or Laporte.

We would have walked the PL and won the CL last season.

I remember a video on the OS showing Txiki laughing at VVD’s transfer fee to Liverpool.

In hindsight it was peanuts. Liverpool winning the CL last season has already paid that transfer fee back in prize money, shirt sales, and World wide exposure for Liverpool and VVD.

He didn't want to come here,he had been tapped up by the dippers for months, don't you remember saints making a formal complaint,we let in one more goal in the prem than them, mostly without vinny,he is protected by 2/3 def mids,he would be exposed without the necessary ball skills for us,let it go

Mcquire is not good enough either, not worth 80 m,he is just the latest golden boy

Sorry

It was Soriano telling Txiki VVD was too expensive, I heard during my two weeks ITK it was wages as much as fee. Laporte was the alternative so it was always one or the other both was never an option. VVD I is a great player and is getting all the plaudits, but not sure he’s much if any better than Laporte. As for Maguire I’ll leave it to the club either we’ll pay it or like Laporte find a good alternative.

It did seem a RIDICULOUS fee for a CB, but, along with their keeper, he was what Liverpool was missing, and made the difference to them making a challenge last year. Therefore, in hindsight he met his price tag and £75m proved to be about right for them pay for him. It was not peanuts!

Great story bud, but when are you introducing the fact he didn't want to join us or is that swept under the carpet?

VVD is way better than Laporte.

That's fine, no problem with opinions. Just asking, but which parts of his game are better?

Reading of the game, winning duels, recovery tackles, leading the backline.

Laporte is an elite ball playing centre half, but he is not nearly as good as VVD in those areas as of now. No argument we should have signed him, ended up paying £60m odd anyway for Laporte so should've paid the world record fee and got it done.

It's all good tho, just hope whoever is next is not named Maguire.

I agree VVD is better at the moment, but not sure we ‘should have signed him’...I reckon if we could we would but as others have said he was dipper bound whatever we offered. We didn’t do too bad without him did we.

No doubt he is a great player, but it's easier to look good as a centre half in Liverpool's set up than it is in city's

It's actually the opposite I'd say, Stones and Otamendi are good examples. But if VVD isn't in that Liverpool backline teams are scoring 2-3 past them on average in big games.

Yes obviously, as I said it's all good because it still worked out. But I can't deny it would have been a dream to see him alongside Stones or Laporte in our team.

Liverpool fans are not asking why they didn’t sign Laporte.

They got a great player in Van Dijk up there with a prime Kompany for me. Would have been great here.

However, we have done very well and things could have been different both good and bad if we had signed him.

Maguire I would like City to sign, I think he is a good player. I don’t see him having a Van Dijk effect but I do think he would establish himself whichever team he joins and after a season the fee would be forgotten.
