Could be a coincidence but ZS-NEX, the plane they were originally due to fly out on, is just about to leave Tokyo Haneda airport
It's taken a funny route so far!

City blamed for helping to thaw the world.Shortest distance between Tokyo/Manchester will be via the North Pole.
The one at the Etihad or at Klanfield? If the inbound flight is anything like the outbound one they should just make it back for the dippers game.
If it follows the same route as BA flights it will fly over Russia, Finland, Sweden and Norway. Non-stop about 11-12 hours.
The shortest route is the one the Nexus is following, you can see it here https://www.distancefromto.net/ just enter the two City names, they will likely go the other way further south due to the prevailing wind helping with the speed.Shortest distance between Tokyo/Manchester will be via the North Pole.
