The value is in the extremely talented player we get to keep for another two seasons.
Only if he's motivated and only those at the club will know that and act on it either way, nobody on here will know enough about his character one way or the other.

Amazed we haven’t come out and slammed Bayern for how they are handling the situation. Absolute ****s of the highest level

That would cost us a little over £6.5m in wages and a free transfer at the end of it.

Opposed to getting £100m for him I'm not sure how that's better value.

Given there are very few players with his pace and ability that 100m and low wages can buy, none seemingly available, i'd say it's decent value. And who knows what will happen in those two years.

I would guess that we haven't said anything because it's what BM want us to do. BM really do look desperate with all their media talk while City look professional with no need for the public begging and pleading. Maybe City feel there's something to the saying, If you lie down with dogs you get flea's.

So he's going to loaf about for 2 years, because City put him through the ordeal of playing for the best attacking team in Europe ?

Is that realistic ?

Will he get it back, when he decides to up his game afterwards ?

Or will he just enjoy himself, like has been doing so far ?

If you think a deal was done how much? Has to be well over £100m. What would you say is a good price from your perspective.

PS I don' think he is going anywhere.
Yeah 100 and some bonus( 5 to 15 million).
But more likely all paid in €.

The same one we'll miss out on when KDB finishes his contract.
Not sure how you're comparing them, to be honest. Kev's contract runs until 2023, and he had no doubts about signing it. The same can't be said for Sane. And if you're going to compare salaries; when Leroy gets to the level of consistency of performance that Kevin is at now, then he can go looking for a similar wedge.

If Jesus can do the miracle of the five loaves and two fish, and feed 5000 people.

City can get £100miil from the German Rags for Sane.

City are quite capable of briefing the press when they want to eg Gundogan, 'he will stay with us for another year even if that means he goes on a free at the end of it.'

If they wanted to, they could have briefed the press this weekend saying £100m or he goes nowhere. They have clearly decided to keep their counsel and see what Bayern come up with. I suspect that they have told BM how much they want should Leroy decide to leave.

Meanwhile BM openly court Leroy in the hope that he is persuaded that for him to be the German poster boy, he needs to play for them. I suspect Leroy is enjoying all this and is hoping for a higher contract offer from us as the transfer window closure approaches. The risk for anyone in his position who may chose to run down his contract and is long term loss of form or long term/career ending injury. I wonder whether they can insure themselves for this. The rest of his current contract is worth approx £6m whereas his new 5 year? contract offer is probably worth at least £40m plus bonuses. Its a game of poker with high stakes.

Personally with the recent history between BM and us, I would tell them to do one. They can't wait two years for a winger. I would then openly report them for tapping up. However, City are far more classy than I am, so will probably remain silent.

the only thing that bothers me about all of this type of stuff, everyyer, is that the media help to create this type of situation. they do it with all the big clubs but they lap it up to create their banners/headlines to keep the "clicks on their websites and viewer numbers high...they have turned the greatest sport the world into a soap opera and no matter how much you try to ignore it (and i successfully do that most of the time) it still visable and noticeable.

they ask leading questions, they continue to stirthe pot...not in the name of news but in the name of money. I know there is no way of stopping this and there is no way of avoiding this and in some ways the money that has been brought into the game (by raised media attention) has benefited the game but it has also hurt it....

To me the media are parasites with very little in this world lower than them (dictators, trump and others etc are clearly worse) - Im also aware that the sports arena is not the only arena that they do this in.

maybe hurting Bayern by not selling them Leroy (though it may hurt us financially) is the better thing for football. If we stump their attempts to rebuild then it could let others catch them up in that horrendously one horse league.....They clearly are bullies as utd use to be and re use to getting their own way (look at the very presumtious comments of their manager today - arrogance at its most obvious).

Id happily sacrifice 50-60m loss just to fuck them over for a couple of years. Like someone else said, they arent going to wait two years to get another winger but if we can make them go for plan b or even c it might make them weaker for a couple of years.

Half of me is hoping we've already got something agreed with Sane but thought it'd be funnier to watch them tap him up and beg for a bargain in the papers and waste their Summer focusing on just him, and get nothing.

It isn't your £50-60 Mill to sacrifice though, people talking like 10s even 100 of millions of pounds is just toy money.

oh i know.......but if i had the power and money....would i?.....Id be very tempted...keeping leroy for two years keeps our squad strong...he has a contractto fullfill and in those two years contnually winning things is only going to increase our financial windfalls (I also know one player doesnt make a team so selling leroy doesnt make this less likely but it at elast helps sustain the possibility/likelyhood)

Hope lad from Spain earmarked to replace Sane isn't Jesus Navas part two.....heard good things about him before he arrived.
Couldn't beat first man with a cross.
And could spot a blind alley to run up at 1000 yards......and did frequently.
