I hope he’s not another Kolarov.

Great at passing and shooting, but shit at defending.

I think kolarovs main problem was his lack of pace cancelo doesnt have the same problem. Hes obviously not walker fast but hes not exactly slow either. Im not sure what people on here want from a fullback tbh its very hard to be incredible defensively if you spent most of your time on the other side of the pitch.

If true, good deal. Walker can be rested but also has genuine competition for his position.

Would arguably be the most complete squad we’ve yet had.

Also allows Walker to be an emergency CB when the inevitable rigged football Gods gives Stones and Laporte long term injuries.

Cancelo can play LB or RB competently and can rock on up the field too. I'm all for 'positionless players' to steal an NBA term tbh. Exciting times. Imagine the scenes if we keep Leroy and these two get to work. Lets see how fucking cocky that Scot and Trent Hey Arnold are then.

Reckon he’ll figure most at right-back. His strength over Walker is that he poses a greater threat in the fInal third and more so to the opposition goal as opposed to the far corner flag (sorry Kyle).

It'll be interesting to see how things pan out if he comes. If Mendy can somehow trade away his glass knees you've got serious competition for LB and RB with Angelino and Zinny hovering around. Now as much as he's a cool guy, I think Mendy's days are numbered tbh but for now it is quite nice to imagine us having super stacked options in the wing back positions

he is very good going forward, great technique - which walker lacks - and can also play as a winger on either side, so hes another option there if needed. You can try to lock up the right for specific matchups with him and walker as well, im sure pep will love to work with a guy with such a toolbox.

hes not a great defender, but neither is dani alves or marcelo and they are or were recognized as being the best full backs in the world...also, you always hope on pep's magic to get the guys to grow as football players

Don’t think Mendy will die as a result of his glass knees, but I get your point. ;-)

Just can’t tell with injuries these days. Delph made a Lazarus-like recovery, Gundogan had been written off by many before last season, and who could have predicted that Kompany would finish his career here so strongly? If Mendy can avoid jeopardising his recovery and be used sparingly throughout the year, then maybe we’ll find his knees are made of tempered glass.

Best of luck to Danilo if this goes through. I thought he got better and better during his time here and was hard done by to not play more than he did last season, especially considering how bad Walker was. But Cancelo is an upgrade, so it’s good for everyone.

Walker also knows he needs to step up now. He could play shit and still be in the team last season. Not anymore. So that competition will bring the best out of both of them.

Walker was very good in the run-in and a key part of our pipping the Scousers. Danilo showed flashes, but also had brain farts - like his needless pass back against Newcastle. He barely played after that - and you know what our record was.

32 million plus Danilo seems a lot, especially given how bloated the Juventus squad is.

Danilo is worth at least 25 million. Is Cancelo then 57 mill? I don't know exactly, but from what I've seen of him I'd say no.

Cancelo's value is €55m, Danilo's value is €25m. We only pay the difference in acquiring a much better/younger player.

We really need a RB?. Think we could do more with a CB right now.
Garcia coming through. Walker and Fern can play there.
We'll be fine.
We mostly defend with space in the back so don't underestimate Walker in that position.
What he lacks in some ways he makes up in others. Depends on the opposition.
