I will accept GL decisions but I’ve always been against VAR technology it doesn’t belong in football Take the offside law, introduced in the early days to stop “goal hanging” its been refined over the decades and improved with the phases of play, some may disagree. Today Sterling was, according to the tech was offside, arguments about angles and timing of the freeze frame not with with standing. But, was he deliberately trying to gain an advantage? He certainly wasn’t, so imho he’s wasn’t offside Lots of very good goals like today and the one against Spurs are going to be disallowed for a small mm infringement none of them will be against the reason for the law existing So there will be fewer goals and the spontaneous enjoyment of celebrating the majority of goals will be taken away This can not be good for football A final point is that the linesmen are pretty good at offside and it’s there we should leave it unless it’s a clear and obvious error like the goal for Liverpool v WHU
Yup.
Offside should be about gaining an advantage not slide rule precision.
