You do not need to see things in it that that aren't there.

As much as we don't want to admit it, I feel like the evidence is staring us in the face by now that actually, he probably does want to go to Bayern. The surgeon thing could be innocuous on it's own but put it with everything else and all of a sudden it looks a bit different.
Taking the emotion out of it, we're looking at a guy who is extremely talented and knows it, has a bit of an ego (like most great footballers, or people good at anything for that matter), and likely feels like he's being underpaid and under appreciated after both not being picked for the World Club (maybe because he plays outside of Germany, maybe other reasons) and being sat on the bench for the most important games for his club team last year. His manager is harder on him than most any other player in the squad (per the manager), he wants to play more, and he wants to raise his commercial profile as well.
Now enter Bayern Munich, the largest club in Germany. They're offering him a very prominent role in the squad, a huge pay rise (much more than he would earn on his next deal here), a chance to become the new face of German football, and along with it a nice deal with old friend Adidas. It ticks a lot of boxes... Bayern's 23 year old starting winger isn't missing the Germany squad next year at least, thats for sure.
We all love Manchester City, so we don't get it, but for a 23 year old guy from Essen... I think I'd probably take the money and my name on the team sheet every week.

That Dr. Fink in Innsbruck usually does the surgeries for the international downhill skiers and is the team doctor of the ÖSV - the Austrian skiing association. But other international skiing stars like Lindsey Vonn go there, too.
Which brave poster starts a 'Who Do We Want Instead' thread then?

Is it really that easy of an option though? We don’t have a monopoly in ambition, and Bayern is a massive club in Germany. If he takes the move he will be under immense pressure from day one there.
I assume Cugat performed the surgery on Mendy's damaged ACL. That went well didn't it. I'm not surprised Leroy won't touch him with a bargepole.
Makes me laugh some of the comment about weak mentality on this thread! How do they know? Do they know Leroy personally. Granted last season he did not kick on as we would have liked, but he is a great young player who has a serious injury. We should be supportive not abusive. And if he goes then we should wish him luck, he has been part of the greatest premier league team ever and does not owe us anything.
I seriously question the views of some fans on this forum sometimes
Sorry mate but there is plenty to see in thisA German player prefers to see a german speaking doctor he gets advised by the doctors of his FA.

All the players you mentioned there have one thing in common, they all have huge egos and believe they and not the club are the most important thing. Pep gets the best out of nearly every player that plays in his teams, Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, all had one thing in common they wanted to learn and they wanted to improve. On Ronaldo, Ferguson eventually got the best out of him and adapted his talent to the benefit of the team, I believe Pep would have done the same.Because Messi was a great team player for Pep. Young Ronaldo certainly wasn't. He simply wouldn't track back, and he certainly wouldn't hold the width anywhere near as much as Pep would have wanted him too. He'd have been great for Pep, cos he's great, but I dont think he'd have been this solo superstar that he became.
Edit - I could be wrong of course, but its not possible for every player to fit with every manager. Ronaldo, to me at least, seems a lot more along the lines mentally of the players who didnt quite click with Pep than some of the ones who do. Zlatan, Ribery, Yaya etc.
Reckon he’ll be back feb/March time. I’d be surprised if he stays until next summer, with City knowing he’s off. Deal will be done soon I reckonThe injury just muddies the plot more. He won't play this season without a miracle. Its all on the back burner whatever.
