I don't think I will, for the simple reason nationalism is on the rise throughout the EU. As Orwell put it nationalism is ego-centric and it puts self interest first; he wrote that it was

“the lunatic modern habit of identifying oneself with large power units and seeing everything in terms of competitive prestige.”

That in itself would destroy the unity that the EU requires to exist.

So, I will reword my statement;

"Look on the bright side - if we do not leave now then you will still be in with a chance to get your preferred outcome - unless the rise of nationalism across the EU stymies that - but I think even that will only be a delay;-)"

Those against the backstop ... support reestablishing the border.

How are politicians able to just make such utter sweeping statements of bollox.

He does not even understand the issue with the backstop which is a negotiating tool for the eu, or worse a means of keeping the uk in the eu against its governments wishes.

A perfect demonstration of the total lack of understanding prevalent amongst many Leavers about why the backstop is needed in the absence of formal customs union or other mutually agreed trading arrangement.

Yep. One that expires on 31 October and won't be re-negotiated or rolled over until we settle our relationship with the EU.

So the EU won’t budge and have pretty much said Johnson’s letter is embarrassing.

US Congress has confirmed that if we do absolutely anything at all to compromise the GFA, they will block a free trade agreement.

Johnson is in a corner currently and his options are becoming more and more limited.

We won’t however support the existing withdrawal agreement

There is no point renegotiating the existing withdrawal agreement as the eu will not renegotiate it

And Japan won't roll over the current trade deal.
And we've just pissed off Canada by dumping a British ISIS fighter on them.
And we're nowhere near a trade deal with India without significant concessions on immigration.
