I get what you are saying, but all the pc, bent banana stories etc sold papers because they struck a populist chord with people already Ill disposed to the EU - including a lot of very left wing folk who perhaps wrongly blamed the demise of our traditional industries on the EU scapegoat. It's just not correct to paint this as a right vs left issue, even if it makes perfect sense to you as a left leaning remainer. I know this because folk often assume I'm right wing because I want us to leave. Also, if this was a simple right v left argument I don't think our parliament would be in the mess it currently is.
I’ve not painted it as a left v right argument. It’s been a steady drip drip of negative EU stories playing on people’s prejudices from ever since I can remember from the people who own a lot of the popular press who have a personal vested interest in getting the country out of the EU so they can make more money and avoid tax.
Anyway I’m not particularly left leaning. There’s no shortage of people who are against leaving the EU who are not particularly left wing in spite of the propaganda spouted by the government.

As a remainer I’m finding you seriously tedious - a lot of the posters you’re trying to belittle have stated there positions many many times on this thread - your Nazi references are embarrassing aswell.
Feel free to bypass my posts fella & block me. I find it tedious that you have to butt into a discussion you find tedious, to tell me you find it tedious. I look forward to the block.

Yeah. But on the other hand 21 MPs did vote against their party knowing they would be suspended for doing so because they thought that was the right thing to do for the country. You may not agree with their actions or Parliaments role in this but I’m not sure it can be described as an absolute joke.

They thought. They've done so out of their own self interests. How do their Conservative constituents, whom they elected to a seat in Parliament, feel about their decision?

Will they be given an opportunity to remove them from the HoC for their actions? What's this; "Opposition parties will not back an election".
They're acting in contrast to how many people feel and want their MP's to act. They are not representing the people, they are representing a minority viewpoint and telling the rest what they should think.
More daftness. How is it in the rebels' self-interest to rebel?

FT take on meeting with Barnier today.

‘EU27 ambassadors have been briefed on Brexit state of play by Michel Barnier today. Still no ideas on table from Brits over the backstop. Mood towards UK turning glum in Brussels. One participant says it's v clear that EU - UK relations will be v difficult to manage from here. EU27 standing squarely behind Ireland. Any alternatives to backstop have to respect Good Friday Agreement and single market. The latter has been prompted by Boris wish to junk level playing field obligations. One diplomat says LPF is "as big a deal as backstop right now"’
You couldn't make this shit up.... :-(

Go on Jez

Unfortunately jezzer has been as useful as a choc fireguard, where has he been this last few years, naval gazing,as a labour supporter i lost all hope of a labour government some years ago, whilst i'm enjoying the boris bashing i think he would win an election no bother, people voted for trump so they will vote for him
