Labour have made it perfectly clear they're not blocking an election they're just choosing their time. Blackford also made it very clear today that the SNP are fully on board with that. This is just wishful thinking on Johnson's part if he thinks he's getting this through. Also resigning won't necessarily get him an election before then, Labour would still have an opportunity to form a caretaker government.
Hard to see that or any other grouping either. If the Tory lords let the rebel bill get Royal Assent next week then Labour is committed to a GE in that event anyway. We'll see, you may be right, but waiting until November just so BoJo can't keep his Halloween promise is pretty weak. If he wins he can crash out next year anyway. If they are serious politicians they should seek to take power as soon as they can.

It's electioneering, just as he's been doing ever since he took office.

I like the Tory MP who looks like a fifties Teddy Boy. Snow white hair, big sideburns.

Sir Desmond Swayne.

Gotta love someone like Jess Phillips - speaks from the heart and means it. You don't have to agree with her to see the passion.

Like Nicolas Soames earlier speaking about his expulsion from the party with his voice cracking.

There's a lot of absolute shite going on but some will come out of this process with some worthy credit

That’s why I can’t stand the cliche that ‘they’re all useles c*nts’’ by some thicko behind there keyboard.
Majority of MPs are hardworking, honest people trying their absolute best for their constituents and country all from different educational backgrounds and upbringings. Whenever someone says ‘they’re all the same’ that is just plain wrong.

Possibly, hard to think anyone could have a lower estimation of most of them than myself but I do still hold a small torch for Rory Stewart.

You know what? People scoffed when he said he could be a unifying factor but if you see how quickly being overtly adversarial has gone to shit it could have been that a more moderate and inclusive tone may have been better - I doubt it could have been any worse tbh.

I don't think the Labour Party could afford to let the SNP claim they stood in the way of an election. In any case a BoJo resignation is the other route to an election before October 17th.

Number 10 issued a statement today saying that will never happen.

He will resign next Tuesday.

Every country has a veto.
Pretty sure it can only be enacted by said country's leader.
Macron will.
Johnson won't even be in the room when the other 27 leaders discuss Brexit, never mind playing an active part. But the vetoes belong to the Commission, not to national leaders. 3 years after the referendum you'd think you'd have learned this.

If Johnson did resign, who advises the queen about who to invite to be PM?

Vetoes on an extension? The Commission?

It's all part of the process of moving to a totalitarian state. Discredit the democrats and invoke the 'will of the people '.

So transparent to anyone prepared to think but sadly many seem incapable.

It's not like it's never happened before !
