Are newspapers reporting news anymore?
You don't read the Morning Star because it is truthful and independent, you read it because it aligns with the political bias you have.
If Boris does something wrong, the Independent, Guardian, Morning Star etc will all jump on it. If Corbyn does something wrong, the Mail, Express etc all jump on it.
Let's be honest who gives a toss? None of the trollop they all equally produce is relevant to real life.
Sadly, in fptp they influence enough of the electorate to win a referendum, and did.
Millions dont vote, "they're all the same", "our votes dont count" , is two of the most repeated reactions when asked. That is 'real life', to them, in local politics as much as 70%; in national politics half the electorate. The deadly serious ping-pong that erupts in the politics threads on here and social media mean nothing to them. Westminster as a body have no intention of derailing the system, the press even more so, it's what they exist for, power with no responsibility, unelected and untouchable. Democracy has no chance when "information" is in the hands of such organisations, censored, spun and just as serious, ignored. Not a problem if you are a tory, everyone else tough shift...
Wasn't 'that' long ago when being found lying to the public would be followed by resignation from public office Now, not even a blush, 'shame' has joined 'white collar crime detection' and the dodo. Extinct. Probably the nadir of our politics is the whitewashing of johnson's cabinet picks, overtaking the racist, repugnant 'hostile environment' of may's home office pogrom, fck me, govt vans with "go home you're not wanted" driving about, yet johnson has gone lower..... much to the satisfaction of the mail/sun fans, it must be said.
