It does make you wonder. Under Fergie they only won two Champions Leagues, in incredibly lucky circumstances. He was found wanting in Europe and in England United didn't really face much competiton till Wenger came along. United essentially played the same tactical game for 20 years but they had some brilliant players. To be fair though Ferguson's success with Aberdeen was impressive with few resources. I was amazed they won the title in 2013 by just smashing long balls to RVP. It remains an effective tactic if you have the right sort of striker.
Yes, his time at Aberdeen smashing the old firm monopoly gave me reason to think. Still not sure even all these years later.

During their period of dominance, I often wondered whether Ferg was actually any good as a manager. They had pots of money and were a Bayern like draw for players. Maybe they just had so much going for them that an average manager would have been successful. Tactically they were nothing special.
4 .4. 2. Year after year. Buy a top striker if needs be (RVP) etc. He certainly left them with a poor squad who were over the top and not any great replacements waiting. Maybe Keane sussed him.
They certainly never achieved a 100 point season nor a clean sweep of the domestic silverware and were dominant in a period when they were the only big spenders until Chelsea found the funding

Wenger was a breath of fresh air at the time and I thought with financial backing he’d of seen Ferguson off, however once their new stadium was used as an excuse to tighten the belts his team were a pale shadow of the Viera/Petit version and Ferguson broke him. Thankfully Chelsea and then us turned up, otherwise the PL would have just turned into the SPL with Rags winning every season a la Celtic

I'm a bitter, resentful, sour old bastard with a permanent grimace etched into my antiquated face, so as far as I'm concerned the rags never won anything - they had everything given to them.
Money, corruption, managerial eunuchs in the opposition dugout: a combination that Gill and that subhuman Glaswegian gargoyle took swift advantage of in order to dominate the Premier league whilst it was still in its infancy.

Never, all the while my vital organs are functioning correctly, will I afford that bastard excuse for a club even a soupçon of respect.

Good man . Lovely post presented with feeling and one that most of us can appreciate .

Oh and I hope our ladies give the rag upstarts a fucking good twatting tomorrow .

Pity Ferguson wasnt around for longer to be honest, Beating them with him in charge made it more sweet. Plus our team under Pep would completely dismantle them. Pep already dished out two footballing lessons to Ferguson in Champions League Finals.

The sick swan must have ripped the insides out of the bitter old twat and made it absolutely clear what the future held for him.

Would I be right in saying when kiddo wanted to have ago at being a manager himself that fergie didnt speak to kiddo for years for leaving utd. Wasnt there a time when kiddo was poorly and fergie still wouldnt talk to him, even after all those years of being his number 2 ... or have I got my wires crossed ?

They did do a treble (CL, PL, FAC) which surpasses our domestic treble.
Symbolically the domestic treble is great as nobody has ever done it but we’d swap our LC for the CL everyday of the week.

That 6-1 would of nearly killed him. Mind you, The 1-0 at home that season too was complete dominance, Dont think they got a shot on target that night from what I can recall.
Not one considering he had said on the eve that he never played defensive.was rather fitting a defender scored...

Aa much as I don't like Keane I have to agree with him, On most things I tend to agree with him. Personally I'd prefer to see people showing there true colours instead of being a false ****.
Ferguson constantly through his career tried to manipulate people, He was nothing other than a bully and over a certain amount of time he got his way, Whether it was with the Magners over the racehorse scandal, Referees, The FA ect...He is a bastard.

I don’t think he bullied Messers Magner and McManus. That’s why he settled for £2.5 million, when he originally sued for £100 million+.

The Govan bully is akin to the twat Crerand - absolutely despicable opinionated and arrogant pissheads and bullies . And Crerand was a fucking neighbour , so personal experience of the twat.

Another treasured Vinny moment.
I was in a very red pub for that.
It was a joy to see the looks on their faces at the end (after witnessing no meaningful attacks by them)... the realisation that that, on top of the 1-6, was the end of their easy procession of the previous 20 years.

It was obvious, after so long, they had no idea how to deal with it.

... as did their club it transpired :-)
