If the EU want to force the UK to remain, can they not just refuse to give an extension when we ask? As we have ruled out a hard exit and don't want to accept the WA, we would be forced to revoke.

They understand enough about our national character to appreciate that would be the worst thing they could do.

And maybe in the Tory's interests to tell them to get stuffed and withdraw any suggestion of a GE in November!

Would Corbyn win a confidence vote? Maybe, maybe not.

Yeah but that just makes Johnson look indecisive. Besides this Govt is dead. It’s an ex Govt. The only thing keeping it upright is because the FTPA has nailed it to its perch.

An election in November is inevitable.

I do perfectly understand that thank you and he was indirectly elected by the public.

Does it make it a dictatorship? No it fucking doesn’t.

Our Prime Minister wasn’t elected by the public, he was elected by those the public elected and that happens in many western democracies.

Your hyperbolic shite isn’t going to wash on here I’m afraid, you’ve mistaken that we know how the EU works.

I'll gloss over the Conservative Party memberships role in getting Johnson the job - I am interested that you think that him being elevated to PM by elected MP's in Parliament is them doing their job but MP's in that same institution taking other actions around Brexit suddenly isn't them doing their job but acting unconstitutionally

Have you quoted the right poster mate?

Might pop along to this

Johnson needs an election desperately and despite it being massively favourable to have one now, he’ll still need it after no deal has been defeated.

Thatch would have been a remainer I reckon, her type of conservatism , as much as I dislike it it not the same as johnsons and rees-moggs, similar, but not the same.

I'd have her down as Leave just because of what the EU has turned into. She was very much against a union of European states.

When cameron went to negotiate prior to the referendum and came home with his tail between his legs, the old witch would have got a deal and then told farage to get fucked.

I may hate her but she was a real politician unlike these jokers

Oh yeah definitely. I've been watching a lot more of her speeches and interviews in recent years as I grew up in the labour club environment and live in an old mining town so "Thatcher = evil" is pretty much a religion and I wanted to better inform myself. I've got a lot of respect for her, even if I attribute an awful lot of blame for the ills of society at her door politically.

Little known fact, Thatcher was also the first major politician in the world to press for climate change legislation.

Ireland's Commissioner Phil Hogan gets the EU trade portfolio. Means he'll be the face of Brussels in negotiating any future trade deal with the UK. Dublin will be delighted.

Well I never said I respected her, but I do yearn for a time when parliamentarians were not all carbon copy cunts or an eton mess

She and her econmic policy did crewted the society where the blandnes of politcians grew as they all merged into the same shower of shite that was the late late 00s political class.

She’d have been a leaver on certain terms but she would never have allowed a destructive hard Brexit.

Britain being a key player and powerful on the international stage was a major part of her leadership.

A part of me thinks she’d have rather been leading in Europe than be an isolated state, given the current circumstances but it’s hard to tell and it’s a bit of a nothing debate.

And right on cue...

‘Phil Hogan’s appointment as EU Trade Commissioner is a very positive development for Ireland. We sought a major economic brief in the new European Commission, and I am very satisfied that we have secured it’ @leovaradkar

Might as well start a thread entitled ‘What Dead Politicians Think About Today’s Events’. Gladstone’s views on the Irish Problem will be a hoot.

George, if Corbyn gets in, we're not all going to have to join our local soviets you know. He's an old vegetarian from north london. I can't be doing with him at all, not for political reasons, I just think he's an arse, but your fantasies of a secret underground red cabal guiding their agent in government are bollox. It's Seamus Milne, that's all.
You say that now but wait 'til he tries to burn the Reichs... sorry Westminster down. Bojo will have to deal with him.
