You understand how the backstop would be used by the EU to screw us over in the subsequent negotiations? The EU now
understand our clear position that it has to go.
The DUP will not be thrown under the bus and nor should they be, any agreement must have the consent of both traditions in the North in order for the GFA to be respected.

Aaaannnnddd.... that’s impossible.

The republicans in NI will never agree to any form of brexit - why would they.

The twitter account has been asked who wrote the letter without response. A reasonable question.
I know a few people who rely on medicines who have been warned by their GP that there may well be shortages in the event of a no deal brexit. If you can't see this is a fully expected outcome of no deal brexit then you do not understand the full implications of a no deal brexit (which I suspect you don't).

What about the consent of NI to leave at all? No consent for that.

Yes I do understand, I'm one of those who've been given information about possible temporary medicine shortages and the steps being taken to ensure continuity of priority prescriptions if that unlikely situation occurs. I also understand that there some private care companies who hide appalling service failure, directly resulting from their profiteering, by resorting to any fake excuse they can think of. They are delighted to exploit Project Fear to put extra ones in the bank for future use.

Getting your excuses in first, nice.

Many private companies in the UK alongside the NHS have EU wide permissions/authorisation to purchase and distribute medicines. Under a no deal brexit this cease to apply and as yet there is no other process by which they can attain the same. But yes I'm sure if this does lead to shortages it is because "some private care companies who hide appalling service failure, directly resulting from their profiteering, by resorting to any fake excuse they can think of".

If you think medicines not getting through is unlikely then I repeat, you do not understand the full implications of a no deal brexit. It will happen and people's lives will be put at risk for it. Nothing makes this 'worth it'.

Oh Jesus wept, this is funny.

You received the letter and decided it was "Project Fear".

This is how insane Brexit has sent some of you.

Various news outlets are now reporting on BoJo's lunch yesterday. This from the Guardian sums up what a number are suggesting happened.

The two-hour lunch in Luxembourg was said by both sides to have been “positive” but EU officials conceded the advantage for them had been in being able to spell out the problems directly to the prime minister. “It seems to have helped the penny drop,” said one diplomatic source.

During talks with Juncker and the EU’s chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, the prime minister was shown in detail how allowing Northern Ireland to stick to common EU rules on food and livestock, known as sanitary and phytosanitary measures (SPS), would still fail to avoid checks on the vast majority of goods that cross the Irish border.

Downing Street has described as “nonsense” a report in the Financial Times that Johnson turned to his chief negotiator, David Frost, and the Brexit secretary, Stephen Barclay, and said: “So you’re telling me the SPS plan doesn’t solve the customs problem?”

But senior EU sources speaking to the Guardian confirmed that Johnson had expressed surprise during the lunch at the complexity of the situation, and that it appeared to have been a “bit of a reality check to hear it from EU officials”.

I find this totally plausible - at no point have i seen any evidence that BoJo understands the complexity and scale of cross border trade. The idea that you can thrash out a deal to solve the issues in a matter of weeks is in-itself evidence that he doesn't understand the problem.

Amazing how it’s painted that they all want to leave the union and all want to remain in the EU?
Every single one of the 32 electoral districts were in favour of Remain by an average of 62 to 38 percent.
It would only take a swing of 5.5% in the Indyref vote for them to become UK leavers, so it would only take a relatively small number of thoroughly pissed off EU Remainers to change their mind about Scottish independence for it to swing to independence.
The irony is that should Brexit go ahead, the chances are that within a few years you will personally be back in the EU as a citizen of an independent Scotland as I strongly suspect that the EU will accept the accession of Scotland.

I might try this with the mrs when any bill reminder warning letters come through and see how it works out. Start shouting 'project fear' at everything I don't like and assume I'm just right about everything.

You don't need to pay that bill mate. With some optimism, determination and goodwill on all sides we will come to some other agreement. I'm all for doing a deal.

Hopefully all the Brexiters that believe it is all Project Fear won't bother taking precautionary measures thereby giving those who aren't complete idiots a better chance of obtaining what they need to cover any supply shortages.

Are you talking about your own care home here, George?

It would explain a lot.

A letter to me eh? Sadly it's not surprising you find a potential medicine shortage so amusing, or at least the reaction of those of who are directly affected and who take the assurances they have been given in good faith.
